Stock and back again... An LJ Rubicon's tail

I am building this thread to document the progress as the jeep comes along. My hope in purchasing this jeep is to have a project to work on with my sons and build it up slowly over time.

Here is some info on the Jeep:
2005
Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited
Khaki color
Soft top only
6 speed
Factory Rubicon Options
6 disc indash cd changer
84369 miles at purchase
Purchase date was 7/23/2014 and paid 13.5K

The jeep was purchased completely stock, judging by the undercarriage and engine bay it has never seen a dirt road. It even had a bra in the back of it when I purchased it from the dealership. I was hard pressed to even find some surface rust on the frame because it originated in FL. The only issue with it was hail damage from a storm in May 2014. The soft top was shot and the hood has some dents, otherwise it is the perfect starting platform.

My ultimate goal is to hold on to this jeep and cherish it like the CJ-8 that I always wanted as a kid. I purchased an LJ Rubicon because in my opinion it is the best model of jeep ever produced.

Attached are the photos from the dealership when I went to look at it and some shots when I first brought it home. You can see how bad of shape the top was in and a close up of the hail damage.

My wife and I took a good 10 minutes to figure out what the hell the bra was

Here is how it looks today, I found a used top on craigslist for 100 bucks

It was the same color as the factory one so I am able to reuse my old windows that are in pretty good shape. My original thought was to use the old windows during winter due to the salt on the roads, but after polishing them I am going to use them year round and have a really nice backup set.

A few more shots, along with the obligatory dog in a jeep photo. The larger dog in the passenger seat is a rescued golden doodle we named "Rubi" short for Rubicon. The one driving is our labradoodle we have has since a pup.

The first upgrade we did was install LED lights in the dash, AC controls, and interior lights. My 10 year old son did most of the project himself, from pulling the dash apart to swapping the bulbs. I meant to take some before shots but I always seem to forget to do that.

We were really happy with the results.
