Ok, I need an opinion here. My 8.8 is sitting in the garage, a little more grinding and it'll be taken care of, plus I found a great priced welder to get the truss setup mounted once I figure my pinion angle out. I'm not going to install it until all the proper supporting hardware is in place. I also have the gears for the HP30 on hand, but it also needs a few things before I can start the regear. That being said, I need an opinion on what would be best to purchase first, as I'm doing things slowly and in steps. Here's my options:
1) Advanced Adapters SYE + TW drive shaft
2) Rokmen control arms (rear uppers for now)
3) brake components for the 8.8
4) bearing kits + carrier + required tools for regearing the OTHER HP30 to 4.10s
I feel like I'm forgetting something important here....but the more I look the more I realize I've been checking ALOT off my list....If I am missing anything, please let me know.

I'd do the SYE and DS, first, the control arms can come later, since you'll be able to weld up the brackets on the 8.8 at the correct angle, which I'm thinking will eliminate, or at least reduce, the need to adjust the angle via the control arms.

yeah, when I ran across a killer deal on an 8.8, it won out for the short list. Now the focus is to get that under the jeep. What I have so far is the axle, the Artec, 4.10s for a HP30...2 HP30s, a bunch of extra axle shafts.
SYE does sound like a good plan though....I think I'll order my SYE sometime this week maybe. Not that I'm in a huge rush or anything. I'm not going to tear down my diff until roads are clear enough to drive the Spyder for at least a few days. I still need to get a 3/4" torque wrench.

Had a buddy come out, worked on his ZJ all day. We effectively made a mess of my garage, but, we did get his jeep good to drive on the road again. I did get some more grinding done on the 8.8. Half of its done. Going to spend a day cleaning the garage out again in a few days, then wheeling next weekend!!!
Ordering the SYE in the next few weeks. I'm not really in a rush, because I'm not removing the transfer case until the weather is good enough to drive the spyder if I have trouble with the TC. sooooon though.

No updates really. Just an observation. Pulling into my street to find they hadn't plowed at all and there was 7 inches of snow on the ground? Sucky. Stopping, throwing it into 4lo and crawling through it like it wasn't even there, priceless. Seriously, what did I ever do before I bought a jeep?
Side note: wheeling trip Sunday. Should be interesting.

Finally got a little more work done. All the brackets are off!

Fresh and smooth shiny surfaces.

Now I'm debating. Clean the rest of the axle, set the approximate pinion angle now...or wait for the SYE to get it all welded up. I'm confident I can at least get it close to what I will need and then can use adjustable upper control arms to dial it in. Meh, I think today they I'll break out the flapper wheel, clean up my new axle, and spray it with rustoleum black hammered finish, then start planning to get it put under the Jeep as soon as the snow melts.

Nope, got half way there and the roads were awful. Joe called me...said he was a quarter the way there, and he already had to stop 3 times to help people who were in the ditch. We decided for the safety of our riggs to call it. Hopefully we'll get to go soon...
