i dont know the part number off hand, but it is the newer style with the electric poppet valves.
just looked, CRB 238886, and DEM FJ10565 are the two numbers i found for them.

Did you see a big difference with the 4.3 swap? It's been a few months so I was wondering how you like it. I've been thinking of doing the same swap on my 98 TJ. I have 33's with 488's but the 2.5 just aint enough. It does well at low speeds and has enough torque to get moving but it losses power at highway speeds and at the end of the mud hole. My biggest concern is not seeing enough difference and then thinking I should have done a v8.

I love it... It has so much more power. The low end torque is awesome. and now when I'm on the highway I'm not afraid to change lanes... I think the 4.3 is a Perfect fit.I think a V8 would have been to much. I'm in the process of building a CJ7 that I have a 350 I'm going to put in it so when I get that done I'll let you know. But I'm sure you won't be dissatisfied with the 4.3..

I'm getting ready to hit 200 k on my 2.5 . I've been researching on what to do next. I am very fond of the 4.3 swap. Looks like its either going to be fun and a little expensive or a pita...might be worth it for me to vote somebody to do it...lol. if you don't mind....what was the final cost...I see that it took some time to complete.thanks

You know I never really tallied it up yet. I got all the receipts in a drawer lol. If I was to guess it would be around 2 grand or so. and no it really didn't take that long to do, I did allot of the work before I actually swamped it in. I tour down the engine and rebuilt it like brand new.

Cool Swap, I followed along. My brother has a 92 S-10 with the 4.3 that I'm waiting for him to get done with so I can take it and put it in my Jeep.

You said you've seen a good increase in power and driveability, but have you checked to see what kind of fuel economy numbers you are getting? I know it's never worth it to swap engines to gain fuel economy, but I'm just curious.

Also, what gears & tire size are you running?

well I haven't posted on this thread for a while so figured i'd give an update. I love the 4.3 this thing has so much power now. I did replace the spider with the new improved one and modified the exhaust and header because it was burning the #1 and #3 spark plug boots. I also stripped her down and repainted her. I added a full roll cage and a custom front bumper I made. Here are a few pics. Oh and I also made a custom snorkel.

I did that to but wasn't enough so I ordered some header pipe from summit racing and took the header off and reconstructed it.

dre40, i think i asked before, you put headers on correct? how was the fit?
i have stock manifolds and was thinking of adding headers. ill have the nose off this winter doing a cj clip swap, and would be a great time to upgrade.
what kind did you use?
