SRT4 engine going in our 1997 Jeep Wrangler

My dad and I decided we wanted to work on a project together and this is the first major milestone. It runs!

Pictures

Added a ton of pictures to the album above but wanted to highlight the ones my dad added extra details too for anyone wondering how we did it.

How has low end torque performance changed? Gas mileage?

If you look at the video closely you can see we are using vise grips to hold the grounds together and the wiring is still a mess. We have a lot of it cleaned up by now but we have not gotten her out on the road yet.

Well please update when you do, this looks really cool. Do you have a rough price of the whole swap?

I'm impressed! Those power plants can make a **** ton of hp and tq. That jeep will give many V8's a run for their money.
Super high five !

Not sure on the total price, I haven't managed the finances. Some additional details:

904 transmission
AGP Zeta 3.0 turbo http://www.agpturbo.com/products/AGP...l-Bearing.html
Custom turbo setup (manifold/downpipe)
We will be using the PT Cruiser cluster for instrumentation with some additions like a wideband o2 etc

What sort of tuning are you using and how much boost do you intend to run? Also, at what rpm do you plan on hitting max boost?

A rough price would be hard since we have went with so many extras. The biggest expense is the donor car. From there is isnt that expensive. For more details than that I would have to consult the project "accountant" (my mom) and that probably isnt a good idea until we are completely done!

We are going to use either a SCT flash or Diablo for tuning and are going with AGP to do the actual tune. I dont have the compressor map handy for the Zeta 3.0 but I know it is still efficient over 25psi. This summer we will hopefully work up to around 18-20psi on 93 pump and after rebuilding the motor over the winter we will install meth and turn the boost up. The end goal is around 550whp with max boost under 3500 which should be entirely realistic with this setup.

This would require an axle swap I assume? Even under a very conservative tune?

awesome swap, very creative and its going to be a nice engine compartment once the wires are cleaned up. Are you using stock t-case? what kind of adapter did you need to match up the transmission?
