cutting is different from comp cutting

i have no issues with going to tube fenders and modifying the body. i just dont want to remove most of the rear quarter panels and move the axle back. thats not my cup of tea.

so i felt like my Jeep has been a real dog for a while back and i seemed to remember it being substantially quicker on its feet. i remembered that we have an adaptive computer that learns the drivers habits in the first 50 key turns. thinking back in the history this is when i had only driven it every now and then.

so i decided today that i was going to reset the ECM. i followed some instructions i found on here and i went out and did it. WOW big difference! i dont know if its a temporary effect but its like it got a good 20 or 30 more horsepower by the butt-dyno. there isnt that spot around 1600-2500 RPMS where it feels like there is no power anymore, it pulls hard all the way from idle. i wonder if taking delivery of this during the humid spring months may have screwed with the computer some how? none-the-less, wow

in other news, i made an appointment for thursday to get a 35% tint on the driver and passenger windows. Premier Ceramic Film.

that is all

i searched for computer reset in the forum

the steps are to unplug the positive terminal from the battery and ground it to something for 30+ seconds to discharge the capacitors. reset the positive terminal. place the ignition in on (dont start the engine) turn the headlights on, then turn them off and turn the ignition off and remove the key.

according to the post the computer adapts to your driving habits through 50 warm up cycles (a difference of 40* to operating temp) or 500 miles.

This very simple procedure will Erase the “Adaptive Memory” stored inside the TJ PCM and allow a new “Adaptive Memory” to be developed.

After performing this procedure the PCM will re-learn and store into Adaptive Memory your engines performance characteristics.

Disconnect the POSITIVE battery Terminal and touch it to ground for 30 seconds. (This is to discharge the PCM capacitors, which maintain the Adaptive Memory.
Reconnect the Battery Cable
Turn Ignition Switch to the “On” position but DO NOT start the engine
Turn Headlight “On”
Turn Headlights “Off”
Turn Ignition Key “Off”

Adaptive memory has now been flashed, or erased from the PCM.

When you start the engine it will be running off a set of pre-programmed tables that come with the PCM from the factory.

When you get the engine up to operating temperature the PCM will start to collect data for the “Adaptive Memory”.

The PCM will collect data for Adaptive Memory for the first 50 Warm-up Cycles.

Warm-up Cycle

A warm-up cycle happens when all of the following conditions exist.

Engine is running
A raise of 40F in engine temperature must occur ABOVE the engine temperature at start-up
Engine Coolant Temp must reach at least 160 F.

Once your engine has gone through 50 warm-up cycles in at least a 500-mile distance the PCM adaptive memory is set.
It WILL NOT Change unless you flash it out and start all over again.

Enjoy

im considering re-doing my exhaust. i have a Magnaflow 14" on right now and while i like the sound, there isnt enough of it in my opinion. after listening to my brothers Magnapacks on his mustang they were just the right loudness for me. what do you guys think of this parts list?

I've got the same problem. Big flat spot in power between 1500 and 2000 rpm. 37k on the odometer. I'll give the ecm reset a shot.

You ready to sell the RE4.5 lift and upgrade to a long arm yet?

got the tint done this morning...

its a 35% Photo-ceramic tint. walked out the door for $120. it looks great. it gets lighter as it gets darker outside, which is pretty cool. i would relate it to sunglasses. easy to see through behind it. hard to see through in-front of.
