one thing the pics dont really show is that i did wire wheel the heavier pitted areas and gave them a heavy coat of rust reformer before the replacement pieces were added

Awesome! You know I nearly bought a 76 DJ5 last weekend because of you- but someone else came and snatched it up!

Which rust reformer do you prefer?

Well darn keep looking...lol...76-77 dj5-d are the ones to look for they have the best drive train...the early ones had some Borg-warner transmissions that were crap....and I'm a cheap skate...I usr the rust-o-Lewin rust reform...spray and forget...lol at least that's the plan..

Well hopefully the rain will hold out just long enuff to get inside and outside of firewall cleaned n reformed tomorrow as well as patching the hole in a-pillar...also got to make a run into town for 6" cut off wheels...bought 2 cutoff wheels and one fresh rock when I started this build...am about 1/2 way thru second cut off wheel so need some more...I got a full size set of torches but they gave been empty for about 4 years now...lol that and thé plasma is down..got to ship it off to cali...it broke last Nov. so all the bracket removal sheet metal and fab work on the daily has been done with only 1.5 cutoff wheels so far...having said this ill prolly break the next couple by knocking my grinder off or something...lol

Well in between t-storms I managed to weld the new piece in the a-pillar...also got some of the firewall and most of trans tunnel cleaned up and a heavy coat of rust reformer sprayed on....stripped down the new dash panel(one I had left from the 71) and gonna sand and prime tomorrow as well as the metal rings from main guage....on the down side in one of the mad dashes to get tools in from the rain my hood was forgotten...got the electronics in a bowl of rice...man I hope it still works when it drys out..if not won't be welding for a couple weeks.....

as you can see above the needle to fuel gauge was tweaked just a little i fixed this before final reassembly...
