Nice, I spent six years in our motor unit before promoting out to Sgt. I went to two rodeos, one in Phoenix and one in Vegas. We competed against other motor units from TX, NM, Utah, CA, etc. My firt rodeo was in Phoenix on a KZ1000, then we switched to Harleys before Vegas. I placed Top 10 individually in both comps and 2nd place overall team in Vegas. My favorite part of both rodeos was the awards ceremonies. Nothing like 200 drunk cops terrorizing the hotels and casinos in Vegas!

I was glad to promote, but man I miss the unit. Keep the shiny side up brother.

I just failed our Sgt's test… well, didn't fail it, but didn't score high enough. I'll probably be in detectives by summer… I'm on that list too…

Most of the comps around here are the type where we go, ride, then go home!!! We went to a couple where we took a bunch of trailers and camped, that was good times!!! Last summer, I beat Jerry Prebble from Vegas, my goal was to beat one of them!!! They are always freakin good!!! I'll PM you a link.

Thanks Jim, it was a good Christmas, and a great new year!!! We spent the weekend leading worship for a family retreat. Good times!!!

I have really been jones'en to work on the Jeep… with all the holiday stuff, and tons of overtime at work, I decided to take a few days off last week to veg and play on the Jeep.

Well, today I went to the store to get some cinder blocks to keep the neighbor dog from digging his way into my back yard again, and took the opportunity to get some nuts/bolts/washers and some tube to mount the cables. I also forgot to make a mount for the plate so I cut out a little bracket from 16g I had lying around… once I make my tire carrier it will go on there, but this will do for now…

I used some cheap window insulation for the tailgate, which will not work, but for $3 I had to give it a try!!! I fished the bolts into the tight spots that I couldn't get to yesterday and broke a plastic tab off the mount for my rollover valve… it is staying put, but I can imagine it will rattle when I'm driving… yay… Still got to figure out what to do about latching the tailgate… I've got about a half an inch between the latch and the body… got to build it up somehow.

I am really wanting to get started on the tire carrier… thinking about saving the DOM I have for cage bits and going to get some pipe for the tire carrier. The SYE should be done by the end of the month, then all I need to do is figure out what I'm going to do with the rear!!

GOOD BYE SLIP YOKE!!!!

I wasn't exactly prepared to start, but I had some extra time today so I started anyway. So here is where I stopped, everything is ready to go back in. ***After re-reading my post, I realized that I'm going to have to take the speedo gear off before I install the shaft, forgot about the oil pump… argh!!! That won't take much to fix though.*** All I need is some gasket maker and some loctite, which I'll get tonight. This went easier than the last time I did it, so this took about an hour, not counting the 45 minutes it took me to find something to get the freaking damper off with!!!

I expected some vibes since the angles still don't look exactly right, but none so far, I've only taken it around the block though.

Well, speedo stopped working on the freeway today… I figured it was the speed sensor…

Not a great pic, but the gear seized to the plastic case… I marked the angle it was in on the stock housing, but it wouldn't quite fit on the new housing… I figured it was because the gear was larger on the new shaft than on the stock shaft… well, I broke it free and put it back in where the it was clocked originally… we will see how long it lasts this time…

It's for my tire carrier. I found a design on genright that I liked, so I decided to make something similar. I'll try to mount my high lift to it, and maybe a Jerry can or two.
