Yeah, I've never understood the swing away idea… it's not like the fold down gate prevents anyone from reaching the spacious cargo area that the Jeeps have!!! I wish I could just take the time and get it done, but I have so many irons in the fire right now, it is taking much longer than it should!!! Hopefully it will be done in the next couple of weeks! It would have been done sooner if I would have purchased a tailgate that was in better shape… my fault for going cheap!!!

My puppy got through the gate we have in the garage and knocked the tailgate on the ground, so I have a few chips that need touch up now too!!!

Mike, just let me know!!!

Greg, I might take you up on the offer. Sundays are crazy for me, but I have been needing a reason to get away!!!

Well, I found some RE 3.5" lift springs on the classified forum, so I threw them on the Jeep and got rid of the budget boost…

Now I HAVE to get a SYE!!! I lowered my skid a little more, but that is definitely a temporary fix!!!

Greg, still looking into the Sunday, is it a family thing?

You might say they are my Jeep family...

My 4-wheel club is going to Hollister Hills SVRA (south of San Jose) on November 27. It's a run for members and guests, so you are definitely welcome.

I am not sure where you are located. We usually leave from the Walnut Creek area about 8am and caravan down to the park. There are some other folks who will meet us there.

So you are welcome to drive down with us, or meet us there. We'll be on CB channel 4 if you want to hook up with us that way.

More info on our club:

http://www.diablo4wheelers.com/

If you PM me your email address, I'll make sure you get included on the mass email with more information.

Last year we had a great mix of new folks and also experienced wheelers. Our deal is that we never leave anyone behind, so it's a great, safe group to go with.

Thanks for the info Greg, I will get back to you. Not sure if the wife is going to want me to be around, since I'm out of town before thanksgiving, then working that thursday and friday…

Got a little done today, after replacing the alternator in my truck…

Right now it seams that every time I have a free moment to work on the Jeep, something else happens that monopolizes the time… Oh del, maybe I'll have the tailgate on by next week…

If she is willing, bring her along. My wife is coming. She's not really into wheeling, she just likes hanging out with me. I'm a lucky guy for sure.

Cool, that is why I was asking if it was a family event… I have two little ones, too, though. I will let you know.

Ah - I misunderstood. Yes, family is welcome. There may be some other kids there (I'm not sure), and I am bringing my wife and dog.

Well, I had a couple days off and was ready to wrench!!!

So it began…

I still have a few things to figure out… I got a couple bolts on the corner guards that I can't get to just yet… The CJ latches are a little too long and interfere with the bar that goes across for the window, and they are too far away from the lip to make a pressure seal, and I need to get a seal. And I need to find a place to mount the license plate, the original plan is to mount it to the tire carrier but I don't see the tire carrier get made any time soon.

All in all, this was a project that I should have had done months ago… I had all the parts, just needed to do it!!!

Nice build. I noticed you have two kids. My kids are younger than yours (still in car seats) but check out my thread in moving the rear seat back 3 inches. It made all the difference in the world to me. Its in my sig.

DaFuzz, yep, well sort of… was until we laid off 12, now back in a car, but the boss lets me keep the bike for special occasions and grant OT stuff!!! I get to ride a couple times a months still… and in our competition…

Barcus, Thanks for the heads up. I'll check it out.
