How do you like these? I have a pair laying around and have wondered why I didnt just re weld the stockers back in place.

Also, Why didnt you weld the upper corner edges of them?

These worked well. I don't know if I really notice any difference. I wouldn't have been able to re-use my stockers since I cut them up to get them off... It was just easier for me.

You know, I noticed after I took the pics that I never welded the corners... It was just an oversight... But I haven't had any issues.

Well, I think I figured out my grinding vibes...

You can see where the tranny mount is contacting the skid... I pulled and ground the edges down a little more.

I think that was causing some alignment issues... You can see here where the bolts through the skid are hitting the plate attaching to the tranny mount...

I took a trip to the mail box (100 yards or so) and the grinding seems better... I have a sick kid at home so I couldn't go far... I'll be able to drive it more later...

Well, frustration is setting in... Took the jeep in to get aligned and to see if the guy could steer me (pun intended) in the right direction to get rid of my death wobble. He said my TRE's and drag link all look good, pointed out that my stabilizer looked like it had been leaking for a while. All I have read is that the stabilizer is not the way to fix DW, but I've decided to give it a try. Ordered an OME... We will see if it helps. Two other thoughts are going and buying some alloy wheels so that I can balance the wheel/tire better. I've been noticing that my steel wheels have some pretty good rock rash! And I've noticed my front upper control arms appear to be bent in a couple places... Thinking about going with metalcloak adjustables.

Got rid of the rattle related to the tummy tuck... By putting stock parts back on. I tried contacting UCF via PM, sent a link to my video, but the responses I got from them were not helpful. Probably would have gotten better service if I called them, but didn't have the time really. More concerned about my DW than fixing the rattle!

Every time Ive had DW it was because of unbalanced tires. Ive actually had to scrap the stock pair of MTRs on my Rubicon at about 15k because they were out of round and would only hold a balance for 5k or so. Sometimes you cannot fix a set of crappy tires. Id bet money its your tires.

Thanks Jim... :P

Rubi--thanks for the thoughts... I hope its not the tires!!!! They are part of the next step... I'm going to rotate the tires... They do seem to get a bit of wobble at like 20 mph... Kind of feels like a balance thing. I have steel wheels that have been thrashed on... The tires are brand freakin new, so I'm hoping it's not the tires themselves, although I have read a few bad reviews on them regarding balance, I was hoping that was minority! I have also heard that steel wheels can get out of balance and are hard to balance... I've been thinking about going to alloy wheels to see if that will help.

When I was having bad DW, I luckily had a brother with a Jeep. We switched the wheels and tires and took it for a test drive. It was an inexpensive way to find it. I was thinking it was everything from TREs to ball joints to control arms. My advice, find a buddy with some good tires and a wheel pattern that will fit your TJ and switch em out.

Well, I rotated the tires and replaced the steering damper with an OME damper... I can drive it now with no death wobble, but I can still feel a wobble, so I need to trace the culprit down. I checked my ball joints tonight and they are solid, so...

Have you checked all your TREs for play? I have spent 20 minutes looking TREs over and never noticed anything until I got up there with a light and found it. The person thats helping you shake the wheel will end up hating you but its got to be done. Id bet if its not that, its a crappy balance job on your tires. Discount always does mine because smaller places will show zero on the machine and then you will go to another place and it will be out of balance. Tires are probably the number one cause of DW because people think all machines are the same or that an old tire will stay balanced just as long as a new tire will

I just replaced all the tre's and the drag link... We also checked them again last. Today I drove on the freeway and I could feel vibes from the rear wheel... It's actually the reason I first suspected my wheels were thrashed! There was still a little wobble in the front... I think my steel wheels have had it... I hope... I'm looking for some alloy wheels that I like.

I don't think this is the final post in the death wobble saga, but it's close!!! Went and bought some alloy wheels, while they were balancing they found one that took too much weight, the guy said they rotated it on the rim a couple times but it just took too much, so they replaced it free! Anyway, I still have a tiny bit of wobble at like 45 mph, but that's it! I can drive my jeep again!!!!!
