that is a tough decision...I went with truetracs and never looked back but I am running smaller tires than you are...and I already have a welder! just make your decision, it looks as if you will be leading our trip in August, not following!

Have you considered the Eaton E locker? At around 200 more than a True trac and 100 less than an OX, they're a pretty good deal!

Mike, I'm not much of a leader when it comes to Jeepin!!! I like to see how other people get stuck and then try not to do what they did… hehehehe

Kyle, Not sure about the E-Locker, heard a lot of mixed reviews. I have a list of Lockers (and LS): Stock carrier, Truetrac, E-Locker, Ox, and ARB. Pros and Cons of each… the thing that keeps me on the Truetracs is the price and the fact that I followed mvigo (truetracs front and rear) through the Rubicon and he had absolutely no problems!!!

Got a package today!!!

HOLEY JIGSAW PUZZLE BATMAN!!!

Can't wait to start putting it together!!!

I ordered the gears and the install kit, now I just have to make a decision on carrier.

... I guess I'm gonna have to fix that too…….

Hey Bill the fact that Mike (Mvigo) didn't have any trouble...ever thought it might be because he's older and driving and CJ.

Well, not a lot to add except I went to the junk yard and got an 8.8 L/S carrier since I am still trying to figure out with way to go with the rear. I'm hoping for $80 I might like the L/S since I drive it as a DD… I also decided to find a HP30 for the front. I wanted to check at the yard today, but I got there late and only had 30 mins to get the carrier. Next time!!! I can't wait to get this thing under my Jeep!!!

... I guess I'm gonna have to fix that too…….

You know this weld is going to fail surely? there is approximately 90lbs of oscillating mass applying a moment to that weld. The weld will age harden and fail but at least your design won't drop the wheel. Just a word of caution.

A buddy and I were talking about it. He was a welder for a big commercial company here in Ca. before he started his own electrical business. He was saying that there would be signs before it would fail. After cutting out the side bars, I wish I would have put 3 in the middle, and used a gusset to support the tire carrier. I wont be redoing it any time soon... Thanks for the heads up!!!

... I guess I'm gonna have to fix that too…….

Well, I spent the morning on a ride, and when I got home the fam was gone to the in-laws, so I decided to wrench on the Jeep. I'm at a stand still with the 8.8 until my buddy has time to help me weld it, or I go out and buy a decent welder… neither is gonna happen soon, so I decide to throw on my Full Traction 3-Link upper control arm (purchased through the classifieds from rgvjeep… thanks dude!!!).

It took me a lot longer than it should have!!! I tried to take a short cut when I started and had to take it all apart and start over… lesson learned, do it right the first time!!!

I hated the exhaust before, now I hate it even more since I had to cut off the tail section because it didn't fit… maybe tomorrow I'll get a flow master and a turn down…

... I guess I'm gonna have to fix that too…….

Well, I had a lot of plans for this weekend!!! I didn't do any… well, I got a couple little things done.

I wanted to install the lower control arms and track bar I got. The track bar came missing the misalignment spacers. An email sent, and they are on the way. And as I was rebuilding the RE control arms, I realized that the rebuild tool isn't really optional! So that is on order as well.

I did put on the extended sway bar links… they are a bit long, but it is better than having the bar hit the truss on every big bump.

I called a muffler shop to see how much it would be for a Flowmaster 40 and a turn down. $125!!! WHAT THE… ?!?!?!?!!? I ordered a Flowmaster 40 for $60 and will put it on myself. I put a turn down on the open pipe and it mellowed the sound out a bit. Good enough for now…

I ordered a bracket for my truss/3 link from Ruffstuff… BEAFY!!!

I also finally purchased a welder, so that will be here this week. Maybe next weekend the 8.8 will be ready to bolt in!

... I guess I'm gonna have to fix that too…….

Is that the Rock Krawler track bar/bracket?

Be careful with that, here's what happened to mine:

Still waiting on the bushing tool, but got the spacers for the track bar.

Doesn't look like they improved on the design much from the pics that Third posted, I'm hoping it was defective welds… I thought about bracing it, and may go back and put something on the corner, but most likely will get a weld on bracket.

and my original pic, for comparison…
