Solar Yellow TJ RME Build Thread

I always enjoyed other looking at the build threads and seeing everyone's progress so I thought I would post one too.

I started with this last year. A Stock 04 Rocky Mtn Edition Hardtop/Softtop with 70K KM's , clean, never offroaded.

Next up. Removed front "milk jugs", painted headlight bezels black and put on a 3" BDS lift.

Put on Currie Currectlync HD Steering. Way beefier than stock.

Then I picked up a HighRock 4x4 Oversize Tire Carrier. I liked the fact that it integrates with the tailgate and can still use the stock bumper. So far so good. No rattles or anything yet.

Last thing so far was a Gibson Catback. Has a nice growl outside the jeep but not even noticeable inside. No problem with fitment by track bar. Only thing I had to do was cut it off a bit short in the rear as I still have the trailer hitch.

That's all I've done for now. On order is EBC yellowstuff brakes for the front and some Body Armor Rockcrawler Side Guards. Should be here by the weekend.

Still plenty more to do but you have to start somewhere. Just Empty Every Pocket....

Thanks for looking and thanks to all the other jeeps on JF that inspired me.

Nice looking Jeep, good mods so far. I had to look at the old and new wheels a few times to notice the difference, they're almost the same!

Those Duratracs look good, I ordered mine and I am eagerly awaiting them. I got them for the same reason as you, I need dependable winter tires here in Alaska.

Thanks Renato. The wheels are pretty similar. The only reason I got new ones was because of backspacing. My stock ones were 5.25" The new ones are 3.75.

The tires should be very good in winter. You'll need them in Fairbanks. I lived in Whitehorse for 10 years so I know about the snow and cold. I used to play hockey in Fairbanks against the Gold Kings. I love it up there. Except for the -40. lol

I am enjoying it here so far. I don't like the upper and lower extremes of our temperature ranges: when it gets below -30 it is too damn cold, when it gets above 90 degrees because we have no a/c... other than that I am really enjoying Fairbanks.

I was having trouble with the shifter popping out of 2nd and reverse after the TC drop so I did the Leather Shift Boot Mod. No trouble shifting now.

Added some backup lights to the rear bumper. Wired into the reverse switch so they come on as soon as I put it into reverse.
