I think I get what your sayin but, I dont think it would be possible with my winch. there isnt enough room for it to sit behind the tube. I would have to cut it out and weld a new crossmember at the front of the frame rails. which is totally duable just not at the top of my list

That's exactly what I was saying. If you want a low winch, you could cut out the tube and build a beefy winch plate that acted as a cross member.

Yep that was the plan. I thought you meant leave the tube and sink the winch behind it.

Welp stayed up real late last night and put the rear main seal in,checked rods and main bearings, new oil pump, installed oil pan and gasket, and filled up the rad with coolant. Today im gonna fill er with oil and prime the pump. Hopefully when I turn the key I don't get problems. It's been three months of garage wheeling I pratically missed the snow wheeling season. Hopefully next weekend I'll be takin it out in search of some snow. Wish me luck!

I had help again this morning removing the grill for paint.

forumrunner_20130317_140016.jpg

Then he even got on with helping sand. I am by no means a pro at paint and prep, but at leaste it will be a 5ft paint job. This summer I plan to sandblast it and the hood and paint both. This is just to get it through the rest of winter/spring.

Got the grill on tonight.

forumrunner_20130318_193350.jpg

Let there be light. I took it for spin around the block and these babies are way brighter than my square counterparts.

forumrunner_20130318_193427.jpg
Now got to trim the winch bumper a bit to get it sucked up closer to the grill. The CJ grill sits back 1" farther so I need to redrill my holes forward 1", and possibly hack a 1/2" off the front of the frame right in front of the shackle hanger.

Finished installing winch and bumper. I welded in two more frame
tie-ins on the lower portion of the frame figured what the heck I don't want this thing becoming a projectile on a hard pull.

forumrunner_20130320_005236.jpg

Then I mounted up my swampers for some snow wheeling this weekend.
