No that was about 15psi (left)on the gauge, with 80% loss(right). It is a cheap one where you zero out the gauge on the right, then lock it in place and connect it to the cylinder, then the gauge on the right moves and tells how much leak you have. The gauge on the left only reads about 15 psi with it zeroed out. If someone knows a better way to use this gauge chime in please im going to try it again later tonight.

Ok I did it again tonight and im not sure I'm happy with how this gauge is working. It says that but I'm not so sure I believe it the gauage is acting funky.

If its accurate then I'm happy I can hear air seeping into the intake so I may rent a good one tomorrow and see what #'s I get.

Ok I got a new gauge to test my theory out and if my math is right I'm only at 20% leak right???.

I can live with those numbers I can hear the leak in the intake only nothing in the lower end so my rings are good. So I may just hit this thing with some marvels mystery oil and get the carbon build up off of everything and test it again. Wish me luck.

Started the degreasing process using a wire wheel.

It cleaned up really nice I will probably just wire wheel it all and mask off what I can and shoot some black paint on it all. Im not one for flashy painted motor so I will just keep it clean and simple. On the hunt for some headers now, and patiently waiting on a call about a bellhousing.

Looking good! I did test fit mine with the stock headers and it seemed to fit well. Im not a master though and I could be over looking something.

Those numbers are definitely better. I like to set the inlet pressure to 100, Less math and closer to real compression. Good luck, Ron

Thanks guys! I have my eye on a set of truck headers at a salvage yard if I can't pick them up for cheap I will end up working with the stock manifolds (fingers crossed). I have heard the passenger manifold interferes with the firewall and that is why everyone ends up using block hugger headers. I've also heard of others using older truck manifolds since they are center dump and easier to come by, plus cheaper.
Honestly I have never done a leak down test on a motor so it was a learning experience for me, coupled with the crappy gauges that came on my buddies tester were what was throwing everything off. I am happy to continue forward with this build and hope I dont run into anymore snags. Haha

Started tearing into the wiring rats nest I'm going to have to figure out, so far its not been to bad just taking it easy so as not to nick or destroy a wire.

Figure I will take my time and by the time I stab this baby In between the frame rails I should have a complete harness..... In theory.
The motor is all clean ready to sling in the jeep its just to bad my wallet aint ready for it haha, my bank account may get sucker punched soon. Kidney shot!!

So the jeep has been getting severely neglected lately but all for a good cause. You see next week marks my wife and I's ten year anniversary (applause I know, I know, thank you) so as a gift I have been busy making the bed...... er I mean A Bed!! Anywho I have been sneaking out to the garage every night she goes the to bed and been working on this for her. Last year I was a part of a remodel that involved me tearing out a bunch of oak out of an old church so I kept a lot of it and used it to make this bed frame. Headboard and footboard complete.

Im almost complete with it and oh the browny points I will be getting for this so I will be able to focus on a little tlc with the jeep. On a side note I found time Saturday to put my street tires on and oh man! how I forgot how smooth a ride it was with these tires on.

Wow man. Good job on the bed.

Adopt your pets. Don't shop for them.
