As soon as the blister goes down on ol' Rosey. Nah I'm kidding. My brother in law recently hit a deer and abandoned his car at my inlaws after it wouldn't start. Insurance didn't want to bother with it so he just signed the title over to me since be doesn't know jack about cars, so I plans To get it running and flip it for a profit. So no loving for the jeep this weekend. I gotta get this car running and outta here . Got a wheeling trip planned for the 13th so I hope to have them done by then.

Ok so i will pickup where I left off. I got this middle row seat out of and 07 suburban off of cl for $25. It's a fold and tumble just like my YJ seat,

as you can see it needed replaced.

forumrunner_20130407_185756.jpg

So I was determined to fit this baby in there. I new the factory base would raise the seat to high so I removed it from the seat frame.

forumrunner_20130407_190514.jpg

forumrunner_20130407_190431.jpg

Had to weld a nut to a torx bolt argh!!

forumrunner_20130407_190603.jpg

Next I removed the padding from the lower half, which is really easy I was suprised

forumrunner_20130407_190913.jpg

To be continued.........

After I removed the padding

forumrunner_20130407_205646.jpg

I was able to safely weld to the frame without worry of ruining my sweet seat. I cut the two pivot points off the frame and evenly spaced then across the front and welded them on.

forumrunner_20130407_204238.jpg

forumrunner_20130407_204312.jpg

Then I cut the pivots off the base.

forumrunner_20130407_204441.jpg

Made floor plates out of 1/4" to attach them to the existing seat floor mounts through the tub.

forumrunner_20130407_204516.jpg
Tack welded them on.

forumrunner_20130407_204632.jpg

Then I made a bracket to attach my belts to the seat frame.

forumrunner_20130407_204733.jpg

Then I re-installed the lower cushion, the belt recepticals fit perfectly.

forumrunner_20130407_204912.jpg
Made little footies for the rear of the seat to bolt through the tub with a 1/4" plate underneath.
Test fit of everything before I pull the seat for final welding of all the brackets and mounts.

forumrunner_20130407_205342.jpg

It took me most of the day in the shop to make this work. Total out of pocket cost for this mod was $25. I really don't count my time since I love to fab and make things work that were never really meant to be. I plan to make the footies quick release, since this seat will fold and tumble just like the YJ one and I can still have a little space to carry stuff.
I am completely happy with it and now my kids can sit comfortably in the back of my jeep.

Thanks! I love to fab. I plan to go to 5point harnesses like yours in the future. I have been following your bumper build.

How did you mount the shoulder point on the belt? Looks like you have a sport bar Rollbar

I took a TJ bar and carefully cut the rear family bars off and welded them to my sport bar. So the belts bolt to the floor in stock location and through the bung welded in the TJ bar.

Was just offered a '83 hardtop. The fiberglass is cracked pretty bad. But the glass is good and so is the back hatch. Im brewing up an idea to make a hard bikini top. I just may keep the glass and scrap the rest. I will share pics as soon as its mine

Well went and looked at the hardtop, its not worth saving I was hoping I could at least salvage the back hatch but its bent and the cracks are huge.

It's cracked really bad above passenger door all the way up through the top, and above rear hatch. The funny thing is my grandfather repairs fiberglass boats for a living and I think he would say this is a lost cause. The guy who offered it to me seemed to think it was worth repairing ,but I don't see it happening. I'll see if I can get some pics of it tomorrow. I'm not going wheeling tomorrow, so I will probably spend the day sulking in my PJ's.
