Are you going to look at that 5.9 tonight still? Be patient man, the right motor will crop up!

Cheers

Yeah like I texted you earlier I looked at the 5.9 tonight. It appeared to be super clean. No oil on top and didnt smoke at all. He started it right up and reved it up and it sounded great. No ticks or rattles. It did have some oil seepage around the valve covers and had a little on the bottom of the motor.
The really bad is the milage, at least I think 180k.
The really good, is he said I can take it to my grandpas shop (right down the road) and pull the motor. Along with that i can take anything I need with it as far the engine goes. Computer, wiring, starter all that good stuff!

So.... Now the question is do I buy it for $300? The only problem I have with it is the high mileage. Opinions?

and GO!

Shooter if he will let you take it for a compression test do that if it checks out good then run it. Im picking up a 5.2 out of a grand Cherokee this weekend for $150 with unknown miles on It Im taking a gamble on it but it runs good and seems clean.

Well guys I started to tear my motor apart tonight. Theres no turing back now! Pulled the header and carb to hopefully sell in the morning.
A quick update on my motor search. I'v decided to keep looking for a lower miles motor. Going to go to a few yards tomorrow to see what they have.

So toady I pulled more crap out of the engine bay. Trying to stay super organized and keep things clean. Im ready to pull the motor out I just need a hoist. Going to call a couple friends tomorrow other wise ill have to rent one. I also pulled the trigger on a motor. ill pick up a 5.9 on sunday with all the parts and pieces. Pretty stoked! Iv never done any kind of major motor stuff like this so its fun to figure things out as I go.

Heres some pics of the progress. This will be a pretty slow build as funds are super short.

Looking good buddy I just pulled the trigger on the 5.2. Looks like we will be doing a swap at the same time.

One of my local friends has one in his SOA '90 and it honestly kicks butt. Does 75 easy on the freeway up 6% grades and has plenty of grunt on the trails. Its a great swap!

Cheers
