Support the motor itself? I was thinking about just the motor without the transmission and install the tranny after I get my flywheel and clutch.

Im probably just getting ahead of myself and extremely impatient.

Its a pain to install the trans with the motor already in there. Im with ya there on being impatient I cant stand it but dont want to pull the 4.2 until I have just a few more things.

I'd how you mounted you motor bit I left enough room between the motor and fire wall so tyranny install would be easier. Then I mounted the motor and got all the wiring done before I installed the tranny

If you put the motor in without a trans you'll have to prop up the back with a jack stand and some wood. I would wait and put the whole drivetrain in at once if I were you. It'll be easier that way.

the 1 time I ever pulled and installed a motor we unbolted the tranny and left it in the truck. worst decision ever. for whatever reason, it was a nightmare to realign them and I garbled the torque converter threads. granted I was 16 and doing in a backyard without proper tools and guidance. if you have an extra set of hands and proper lifts and whatnot I imagine its doable.
Waiting for parts does suck, Ive got 2 in the mail and several more to buy still.

HAHA yeah the backyard stuff gets hard. So you guys have convinced me to wait. I have a Flywheel on the way and I'm ordering a clutch hopefully this week.

Now the question is.. I see there are options for 10.5" or an 11" clutch. Im unsure on which one to order. Morparfreak advised me to go with the 11" but the 10.5" is cheeper. I think they should both bolt up to the flywheel.

Suggestions, GO!

what is recommended for the flywheel? if you canchoose between the 10.5" or the 11" i really dont know that you would notice the .5" difference as far as driving but one could make the arguement the you would have more surface area with the 11" making it last slightly longer its been a while since ive done a clutch in anything small haha however we just switched from cheap clutches to ceramic ones here at work for our semi trucks (14" clutches haha) and altho pricy well worth the extra $ as far as wear and heat displacement the cremaic is the way to go for shure! i say get what you can afford now especally since clutches are something youll end up replacing sooner or later anyway maybe talk to someone running a simular setup and see how they like or hate it and go from that

^^^^

My clutch is on its way from Nevada so it should be here in a couple days and I can begin putting everything together. I was able to do what I wanted and got a new clutch and flywheel for the new engine. Going to be sweet!!

EDIT:

I Got my clutch today and ended up with the wrong kit… I got a 23 spline when I need the 10 spline. I was so excited to start assembling everything and hit this speed bump.

I drove across town to get a pilot bearing thinking id get it put together tonight. ARG!

Well I received the wrong clutch again on monday. I talked with Summits customer service and the said they will call me the following day with more information. No call… I called them again today and got things sorted out. I have another (3rd) on the way and it should be here on tuesday. I still think its the wrong one again but i'll give it a try if they say so. I told them what I want and what I need so we shall see.

I don't think Ill order from them again.

I Finally got the right clutch kit on tuesday and got the monster in this morning. I Dont have it wired or anything yet as I still have allot of parts to gather up but its crazy to have an engine back in the Jeep. The best part of it is that my wife helped me out.

Some parts I still need to gather.
-Fuel pump with lines (I know where one is at I just gotta pick it up)
-Headers

Heres some pics.

Its weird to see the Jeep bear the weight of the engine without the hoist.
