This is my second xj bought a 4 door first but always wanted a 2 door found this 96 xj 2 door 5 speed clean with no rust but had a blown head gasket and is two wheel drive so the work begins replaced cylinder head and gasket now running good rounded up a hp30 for the front with 3.55 gears and a 231 t-case also acquired a set of 33x12.5r15 waiting on the 4.5 rc lift kit to show up

Thanks. It's hard to find a 4wd xj that's not all rusted out here in Ohio I would rather do the work converting it to 4wd than rust repair

That is a really clean XJ. I really enjoyed my buddy's Jeep. They are great vehicles.

I couldn't agree with you more! I have a 2 door XJ 4x4 and have spent many many many hours cutting out rust. I am now in the middle of replacing the rear cargo pan. If ever you get hung up on your 2WD to 4WD conversion, just take a look at my build thread and it will instantly make you feel better haha! Excited to see where you take this build
