Starting a build thread for my partially set up TJ. It is a 2001 with a 4.0 with 33 12.50's and a true 2in lift. She has 142,000 miles and has had a new clutch, clutch master and slave cylinder, K&N cold air intake with a throttle body space and a Jet chip. Still learning so bear with me. If anyone has already set up a TJ for search and rescue feel free to post pics of your setup or ideas.
List of planned mods:
I'm working in the direction of building a zombie appoclypse vehicle... which to normal people who don't like the pop culture would be considered a search and rescue vehicle. I'll watch this build every now and again to see what you end up doing. I say start buy packing it with recovery gear first and for most, because all of it can serve multiple purposes for a rescue situation.
UPDATE - So me and my 3 of my friends managed to install the rear corner guards and the tube fenders in 10 hours lol. I purchased them from Smittybuilt and i hate to say it but i wont be purchasing from them or any of their products ever again. At a first glance the parts looked amazing and had great quality. After trying to line up the corner guards with the factory tail light holes we quickly realized that the corner guards were off by at least an inch. We solved this by zip tying my tail lights on and drilling new holes for the bolts. Hoping for a little more luck on the tube fenders we began to cut on the fenders. The driver side fender went on with little to no trouble but the passenger side was another story. We had to trim a lot off of the original fender and even the battery tray to get it to fit none of which Smittybuilt mentioned to do in the instructions. Once i can get the pics from my friend they will be uploaded as soon as possible. *Side Note* I'm not sure if it is because my taillights don't have the factory screws or if we plugged something in wrong but every time i hit my brake pedal my dashboard and gauge cluster lights come on. Any ideas? Also it is confirmed i have a "True Two" inch lift.
This is the final product. It got dark so we couldn't take pics of all angles. Me and my friend were going to go to a local construction site today to take pics of his yota and my jeep but a cop followed us and flicked on his lights as soon as we pulled in. :P No tickets though, just a warning. We will try again some other time.
