Alright well not much has been going on. Did finish up the HP44 today. Other then the track bar bracket all the welding has been finished. Also through my preload shims on the carrier, pressed the new bearing on and got the carrier in for the last time. Will probably get the axle under the Jeep for the last time tomorrow. Im going to wait till I get everything finished to do the track bar. Because my TnT frame side track bar mount is too far offset Im going to get everything set up and then work that out. May have to buy a new frame mount or if I have the money may just order some front frame stiffeners and do a weld on mount. Still not sure.

Ball joints have been ordered! Will still be going to harlan but not in my Jeep. Will be helping out a friend and trailering his up there. Kinda happy it worked out this way because I want to get a look at Harlan before I take my Jeep up there. Plus with all this work going into the Jeep I'd like to take it to Gulches on its first trip. I know that park a lot better and will be able to give it a proper shake down there and be close enough that it won't be that big of a deal if I break it on the first trail god forbid it happen. Now will be planning to make the NAXJA event up at Harlan in July so will be good to get out there this weekend and get a feel for it without actually bashing my Jeep so I know if I need to make any adjustments before July.

Hey man, do you mind giving me a little more info on the 1 ton steering? You've got my head buzzing about it

Yeah no prob! Its JCR's 1 ton over knuckle set up. Simple to install just can be a pain and can take some time. The knuckles were the easiest to drill and ream. The pitman arm was another story, Drilling and reaming that was probably the hardest part of the install.. Just took a lot of time and ate up an $80 reamer. You will need a over axle track bar set up to make it complete, too keep your angles right. I went with TnT Offroad's track bar system. It was the easiest to get ahold of. Did have to re drill the frame mount to move the track bar up a little bit to get my angle pretty much parallel with the drag link. I also had to extend my steering stops and trim some of the factory axle brackets to clean the bigger linkages. Thats about the only disadvantage to the set up is a lack of turning radius.

Just got back from Harlan. really glad I didn't rush and take my Jeep. It wouldn't have made it up some of the trails out there. But I am glad I went to get a look at it so I can prepare the Jeep for it. Towed my buddy's 5.9L ZJ up there. The Truck towed great but the transmission I don't think made it. Barely got it home and now even with no load 2nd gear slips pretty bad. So will be taking it to a tranny shop tomorrow to see what my options are. Need to get the Jeep done even more now so I have something else to drive. We'll see what happens and will keep y'all updated.

Great info on the jcr steering. How much turning radius did you lose? How's the transition going to the new axle? And do you see it being a problem installing the steering and doing the trac bar a day or so later?
Reason I ask is I'm not setup to do it all in one location. I would have to do the steering in one place an the trac bar elsewhere.

Nice pictures of the trip, when I was considering moving to KY, Harlan was going to be a big perk. Sucks your truck had problems

I didn't loose much but enough to notice.. Parking isn't a real issue just swing it wide. Trail riding some times have to 3 point it but not bad. And the axle swap is still coming along but slowly. Still have a few more things to buy. And yeah I did the same.. Installed the steering ordered the track bar the same day and then had it installed a few days later.. Didn't drive it too much while I was waiting.. But I'm sure it will be fine.. Just make sure your track bar is tight and it should be fine. Yeah I'm at a transmission shop now and they found pieces of metal in the pan so gonna be getting it built soon so the jeep might be postponed a little more. We'll see
