First you hold them in place then put the bolts in where your cross member would bolt to .. that holds it in place. Then in the rear you floor jack it up until its in the right position, then weld in. Ill see if I can find a pic.

not the best pic.. but look at were the cross member bolts go and you can see the bolts in there.. Then the stiffener bends where there are the two relief cuts .. so keep jacking it up until it fits perfect.

2nd pic is from EricXJ's rig

Well started on the Jeep today.. Not too happy right now. I went to Advance auto parts to get a tranny mount. Well they did have one for an 2001 so I got one for 97-99 thinking "oh they didn't change anything" well apparently I was wrong! the mount bolted up to the tranny but the crossmember studs were off set. The old tranny mount was shot so I cant put it back on. Going to Napa tomorrow to see if they have one. Then stripping the frame and welding on the stiffeners.

Well thats a wrap on another day of work. Not completely finished. Got the passenger side pretty much done, just need to grind and paint the driver side. Still waiting on a tranny mount, went to Napa this morning they had one but wouldn't be there till the next morning so I'll get that then.

Do the stiffeners go around the all 3 sides of the frame rail? or just the outside and bottom of the frame rail?

Just the outside and the bottom. It would be possible to put them on the inside on the passenger side of the Jeep but in order to do it on the driver side you would have to pull the brake, fuel and vacuum lines away enough to clean and weld.

All three sides really aren't necessary either. Just the bottom and the one side is a huge improvement from what I hear
