Stumbled upon a hp44 out of a 73 f100 with weld on wedges. Will probably be sitting in the garage for while but we'll see.

yeah I am! I still can't decided whether to shorten it to match the rear, re tube the rear to match the HP44 or rebuild the D60.. I rather go with whats cheapest. Ideally Id rebuild the D60 but the problem with that is since its a 16 spline axle, Id have to dump a ton more money into it to get 35 spline.

man i got back and forth on that a lot. Wider is realllllllly nice, but so much I find my self just fitting between stuff, and squeezing by things, If I was much wider I wouldn't find a lot of places I want to go.... so man tough call but both have good benefits.

Stopped and talked to the guys at foothills 4x4 today. They said that re tubing my rear 44 wouldn't be worth the money and trouble. They could narrow my HP44 for like $250. or they could sell me a matching width rear 44 they had laying around and I could just swap the guts out of my 44 into it and match it with the HP44. I'll have to buy parts for the HP44 regardless. Its not like Id be going extremely wide only like 1-2" on each side, but if Im going to go through the hassle of another axle swap I might as well go wider for the added benefit. Im still not extremely sure though.. I'll probably just start ordering parts and see where Im at when Im ready to build.

Yeah should be.. now that I have the front housing.. Im going to try and have them done by or at the beginning of the summer. So we will see. First I need to get some frame stiffeners on, that will be the first. Then will start gathering parts for the HP44. Will probably not be going all out to start with. Just ordering the bare of what I need to get it under the jeep, Shafts, gears, brackets, knuckles and outer assemblies.

Yeah its still all up in the air. The way Im looking at it now is if the 4x4 shop still has that matching width 44 when Im ready to swap and I have the money I'll get it. if not I will just narrow it my HP44. Id like it to be a little wider but its not at the top of my list.

Damn i stop checking your thread and you go pick up some big boy axles. HPd44 looks sweet, wider is better unless you go crazy. If you stay with 35's a sixty might not be necessary but it would be ready if you go to 37's.

Man where have you been?! Yeah Im not using the D60 anymore.. Atleast not that one. Its a 16 spline and from what Ive heard it will cost me more then I want to spend to convert it to 30 or 35 spline.. Ive been told that a beefy set of 44s will handle 37s with easy. Especially the way I drive. In all honesty Im still not sure what Im doing.. Im just going to wait till have enough money saved up and just go from there. Plus I found out today that I'm going to have to break open my T-case because its leaking and I noticed some play output shaft. So i need to figure out what that is.. Now go and update your build thread! I know you've done more then whats on there now! We got a Uwharrie trip planned early April. Be ready!!

a lot of people run 37's and good 44's with good luck .. and their lighter than the 60 so not a bad bet ... however the 60 has much stronger components steering wise... so if you want to go hydro... that's something to think about before you start building... it cost a lot of $$$$$ to build the 44 for hydro

I probably won't be going full hydro. Have been thinking about hydro assist but thats about it. I hope to have something figured out by time summer starts. Would be great to have the axle(s) redone before the coal creek/windrock trip Im trying to get planned this summer. I have a few things in the works that might get me enough cash to get it done, but nothing for sure yet. We will just have to see.. Y'all will be the first to know when I start.
