Branik recommends 2.25" for lowers if you're doing go fast/hit hard wheeling. 2" is the norm for rec wheeling lowers/uppers. 2.5" would be overkill.

Connor knows what needs to happen, when it gets implemented is a somewhat different matter

What's wrong with overkill?

Some say "overkill/overbuilt." Others say "safety factor."

Well, I'll be starting a new job with a new company in a couple weeks and I'm very excited about it. I'll be going to work for Sherry Labs as a Materials Fatigue Specialist, so I can finally say that I get to destroy things for a living. I got the tour of the facility yesterday and to say that there's some cool stuff going on there is an understatement.

And I saw more than one machine that could very easily support some cool Jeep component-related testing.....how about cycle testing a JJ and Duroflex bushing @ 60 Hz? Tensile and compressive testing track bars? Fun fun.

Thanks guys.....as for Jeep-related crap,

I won't be wheeling this weekend like I wanted. I've been too busy with BS and working on other Jeeps to work on mine. I'll probably just relax out on the lake this weekend and hopefully get to the Jeep soon for some fall wheeling/camping--my favorite season, by far.

That sounds like a perfect way to simulate 8 years of Duroflex abuse.

Nothing if it "needs" it.

What FS do the design controls of this Jeep require? What are the user needs? How will it be verified/validated that these requirements were met? Are these concerns captured in the DFMEA?

I say overkill and FS, just depends on the audience. I don't assume everyone I talk to is a Senior Development Engineer with a BSME like myself.

I'll check back in another two weeks if I remember to see all the witty banter.
