Let me guess, since you have a Dana 44/9" I'm gonna guess radius arm passenger and just a lower driver? I thought long and hard about doing that since it eliminates the inherent "bind" that radius arms put on an axle, before finally deciding to bite the bullet and build a 3 link.

Clearances are fine.

Worked on it for a few hours today. At this pace, it'll never get done. Oh well, fab and welding is almost completely done. The rest should go quicker.

As long as you pick away at it and don't burn out it will get done.
All it takes is determination and perseverance. Off course not straying to far from your original plan helps also. You can ask Johnny about what happens when you do that
Still if you find the coin ORI's or coilovers all around would be a very nice addition to your Jeep. You are there, it's on stands so it wouldn't be more than a couple more days to shoehorn those in there. Just saying

Correct Sir. There is no doubt that it is great offroad. There is no binding whatsoever. Im not sure what im going to do. That single radius arm does get rid of the binding. It just makes your pinion angle supported only on your right side of the axle, instead of the center. Also your pinion changes more throughout the flex. There is an endless fight over it. Some people say it is impossible to drive them on the road, some people say its fine. I drive mine on the road 95% because its my DD. Its fine until your on the highway going 70 for a long distance. I know that its my worn out steering box and that im too cheap to go buy a PSC box. But ive thought about doing a 3 link so i can rule out my front links. Ok thats enough bout my ****.

Keep on going Imped. My last jeep was on stands for the longest time. At the end it gets painful, but go slow and finish it right. For example i just finished up frame repair for a YJ for a guy. We worked on it and he ended it up doing all the final things like shocks, wheels, tires. Well because he wanted to get it going so bad he forgot to rebolt the bolts for the front discs. It didnt end badly, just pretty funny. Dont do that. lol

you don't want your upper link to be in the middle of the axle, you want it to be on top of the diff. and part of your problem on long drives is you got nitto mud grapplers lol.

There is no law that says that the third link has to be on top of the diff.
Or atleast I haven't seen it, my upper is on the right, worked out better since setting it on top of the diff would get it to interfere with my lower radiator neck. 6" front stretch makes you run out of real estate in a hurry, Unless you go for a ridiculous amount of lift or no uptravel.

Winch?

Was reading through your build thread and noticed you do not have a winch (in the pics I saw). Do you take it off for daily driving, or do you prefer not to run one?

I may be in the minority, but I am not a fan of the "winch look", nor do I like the idea of adding 100 lbs to the front of my jeep. Although, I'm worried it may be irresponsible for me not to. How did/do you decide whether to run a winch or not?

BTW, thanks for all your input around here! I have learned so much from you, Jerry Bransford, etc. It's a shame you guys haven't collected a consulting fee from a bunch of us!

Kevin, I still owe you tater balls.....no worries.

As for the winch, I sold the XRC-8 about 5 months ago. The second solenoid failed on me and the wiring was crap so I got rid of it. I ran it some of the time.....we've got plenty of winches in the group so it was never an issue.

Another winch is in the plans. I just agreed to do most of the work for a buddy's CJ5 front 3 link with CO's and in return I'll get the nice little winch I've always wanted, which he happens to have a nearly new example of.......Warn 9.0RC. I'm excited for the project--the CJ is in a heated shop, the tub will be off, and I'm free to do what I want. I drove it around a few weeks ago.....4BT, Chevy 70r/60f, 37's. Pretty fun rig.
