Sorry man, I love my Jeep to much to trade. Good luck with the sale going on over in the classifieds though.

I was let down by the Jeep today and was almost late to class.

A couple days ago, my dad's truck wouldn't start (or turn over). I went to go jump it and found out that the positive wire came off. It wasn't fully seated and tight from when we were working on the tranny. I put the Jeep back where it was, but when I parked it, I left the lights on. Jumped it Saturday night to go put gas in it. Started up fine after the super short drive to the gas station and headed home.

Fast forward to this morning. I went to start the Jeep, the ding dinged to let me know the key was in, turn it, and nothing. I figured the battery didn't charge enough and died while sitting there. When I went to go jump, it turned over, then stopped. Let it charge for a couple mins, and it was finally cranking over fully.

No matter how long I held the key, it wouldn't start, it would kick, but never fire and run. I tried holding the gas down, and that worked, but it would instantly die if I let off the gas. I ended up giving up and stole my dad's truck to get to class (made it with literally 15 seconds to spare)

Anyone have any idea what is going on here? It should have fire right up like it always does. It had a fresh tune up about 15k ago with Double Platinum plugs, fresh clean gas, air filter is clean, and I honestly can't think of anything.

Possibley try another battery, my friends yj sounded like it has the same problem, thats what fixed his, it could be a bad alternator not allowing the battery to keep a charge

If that is the problem, why would I have to rev it to keep it running. The only part of that that would make sense to me is if the alternator is failing and needs to be spinning more in order to keep the Jeep running. My dad is supposed to be checking it out while I am here at class. If he can't figure it out, and doesn't get the battery and alternator checked, I will run it down to Advanced Auto Parts and have it looked at. If the alternator is bad, I guess it will be time to make an upgrade. Jeep has about 90,050 miles right now.

I never had any rough idle after changing the plugs, and there are no wires to change. It ran smooth as silk with not even a light tick or lifter tap that is so common with any Mopar motor.

I got it fixed. A friend of mine told me to try starting it and holding the gas at about idle for a few minutes. He said leaving the computer without power for that long can reset everything.... including the computers ability to hold idle. I did that for a while, let off the gas to show my dad how it dies, and when I started it up the next time (right after it died), it was fine. Took it for about a 40 minute drive and all seems to be good.

Yeah... not much gets done with the Rubi really. It hasn't been driven much because I have been DDing my dad's 2012 Fiesta which gets 35mpg. I drive about 400 miles/week so gas is killer. Plus, the Jeep needs tires and a water pump.

Anyone have a set of 16" tires? JK Rubi takeoffs for a decent price?

Meh... I have been mostly been lurking threads that I am subscribed to. I have made very few posts. Of late though, the only thing done to the Jeep is a new set of tires. They are a slightly agressive AT made by Nokian. Something like $127/tire mounted, balanced, and taxed. Other than that, I have just been driving the Jeep and enjoying the doorless feel. I have no money right now because I need to pay for school, gas, and my phone. Also, I am working full time hours at a part time job so I just have no time for anything.
