Spyder is partially right, the cut out in the corner guard is for a CJ/YJ filler bezel, and the TJ fill tube doesn't fit quite right up to the CJ/YJ bezel, and the tube needs to be modified so it can work. The tank does need to be raised however to make room for the rear stretch, the gas tank skid almost hits on the rear dif.

All in all, considering every thing that went on, it's not too bad. I think he said his TNT order was something like 700+lbs alone. Keep in mind, that gross weight is for stock suspension, axles, tires, brakes... wonder what it would be now?

OK well, here's some pics. For you JK guys, or anyone wanting to swap JK axles under your beast, here is what I've learned...

On the back side of the diff, there is a plug. It's useless to anyone but the JK's. It's a sensor for the dash to tell you when your locker is locked. It's a small plunger that pushes outwards against the locking plate. What happens when people who are not familiar with the newer D44's install gears is that they don't get that plunger set right with the locking ring. So you have the plunger hitting the ring, which puts enough pressure on the plate to lock the axle.

Demon plug unscrewed

Diff opened (I wouldn't have had to, but I was putting the Riddler on anyways)

This is what it's supposed to look like.

This is what it looked like.

And inside the diff...

My solution...

And the Riddler cover back on

Technically, I didn't even need to open the diff. I could have pulled the plug, cut it, and stuck it back in just fine. I was putting the Riddler on there though, and figured what the hell, might as well look.

Tru-Turn pics are next.

"LCOG" isn't cheap and it certainly isn't easy. If you think so, you are doing it wrong. If you aren't willing to put in the effort, don't label your build "LCOG". You are just a cheap ******bag.

How much did the Treks long arm plus the stretch run you?

The Off Road Only Tru-Turn is a new product for JK's to get back to a straight tie rod, and get more/better diff clearance. I specifically needed this because I refused to set my steering stop so much that I'd have to make a right turn across 4 lanes. Aside from that, I couldn't come close to full lock without getting all up into the diff... and I didn't even have my Riddler cover on. So, I needed to do something about that.

Rod at TNT suggested I talk to Steve at ORO about this new system due to my issues. I was previously running the TNT tie rod with one-ton ends. The Tru-Turn runs Spicer ends off of a 3/4 ton van (think UPS truck). I was immediately impressed with the Chro-Mo tie rod. It's nice and heavy looks like it's going to get the job done. I was also impressed with the thickness of the "hub" as ORO calls it, I just keep calling it a bracket, but anyways, it's thick, and doesn't look like it's going to fail. On to the pics.

This is the bracket that bolts through the knuckle and keeps everything in place.

Inside the stock Moabs, there is a groove, I don't know, nor do I care what it is there for, but it's a pain in the ***. Read below to find out why.

On the stock JK Moabs, because of the ungodly backspacing, you will need to trim one of the nubs off of the tie rod ends. The little square nub thing looks like it would almost fit in that groove shown above. It will not. Grind it off. You aren't going to hurt anything.

Thems tight quarters right thar!

I thought I ground enough off... I was wrong. Look ma, self clearancing wheels! That little groove came in handy. It's just a hair too shallow.

In the end, I got just what I wanted, and got the clearance I needed and the ability to run one of the thickest aftermarket diff covers on the planet. I didn't have to adjust my steering stops, and am now good to go, minus a little paint. I am a happy boy.

Diff clearance!

And have you EVER seen prettier steering geometry. The correct answer is no.

I saw your TJ in the "most built DD" thread and I've gotta say it is really impressive to me... It makes me want to get another TJ and start over again to make a smaller monster

I'll have to bookmark this and read through the whole thing some time.

It's a lot of BSing, but you can see how much I flip flopped back and forth. You did a great job on yours man. It's impressive. I'm in the same position you are though. Finally drivable, but not wheelable.

Last I knew they were going to be 37x12.50 R17's next. They aren't on the site just yet. Shoot an email to tireinfo@pitbull. I think that's the addy, it's on their site I know. Don't tell him I sent you though. He's been getting all kinds of emails and phone calls because of me haha. Actually tell him James said to quit slacking and get them out.
