Project: Upper Helldorado

I've had an affliction for this trail since the day I ran it in my old YJ....so this build will be to get back to that.

I've been slowly gathering parts. Mostly from trading services for goods, so I'm getting close enough now that I think I can start the process.

I'll be working with my newly aqquired 1989 YJ. In it's current state it's got the 4.2 with an AX15 and 231 tcase. This thing is bone stock.

Here is what it will end up with:

Drivetrain

"LS" LM7 5.3L engine
4L80e transmission
NP241 or Dana 300 tcase (whatever I decide to come up with between now and time to put it in)
Waggoneer 44's with Chevy "big bearing" outters and disc brakes

Suspension

FOA 18" coilovers
Double triangulated 4link rear
4link front

Stretched ~6" in the front, ~6-8 in the rear.

37" military take-off tires/wheels. I will recenter the wheels as well as add rock rings.

That's the plan. As we all know....**** happens and things change...but that's where it's going as of today

Ok...pics of parts:

The platform:

And parts:

More to come...that's all for now

Looks like a nice YJ. Is it going to be street legal?

Yes sir. Thats been the hardest part is finding a YJ that isn't rotted or no title or any number of the other reasons it couldn't be a safe rig on the pavement. I got lucky with this one as the interior is near perfect as well.

This will be great to watch! I may have to borrow some of your ideas for mine. I plan on doing this to my JK soon!

You know I have the transmission and np241 sitting in my garage. I am more than willing to part with them.

Glad you were willing to part with them Still a little concerned about doing business with a sad day panda...but it's whatever

I was surfing the ole interweb when I came across this YJ and it is the stance I will end up with once complete. While I will have 37's, it will have the same minimal 3-4" up-travel in the rear as this one. I really like how clean lined this one is with the front being cut up into the hood and the rear being tubed out without a "fender". Will definitely take some build ideas/items from this rig....

Still collecting parts and finishing other projects...but getting close to tear down....

That YJ is sweet. That is the stance I was going for with mine. I am currently a little high, but am working towards lowering it some more. It's tough to package everything and keep it that low.
