So a friend gave me some ski racks earlier this summer but they arent really universal, so i just took some zip-ties and tightend them down. Hopefully they will hold, ill have to check them throught the winter.

*edit* In this picture, the zip-ties look loose, but they arent, its just cus the cross rail is arched and the rack isnt. They fit really snug. And i ended up putting two more zip-ties through each hole with the ends facing the other way.

Anyone ever hear of Mount Bohemia? Thats were i ski. If you live anywhere in the midwest and love skiing, i definetly recomend going. Check out there website, the hill is amazing.

Couldn't you bore that hole out a bit and then use u-bolts or a [ bolt (I couldn't think of the name) with a piece of flat against the bottom of the crossbar or vice versa? That's kinda what Thule does I think. The zipties will probably work no problems, but the bolt would offer a little more piece of mind. Also, your jeep looks great.

That's a great idea! I've been struggling with what to do and that never even crossed my mind. I'm a bit worried that the zip-ties will get brittle in the cold. I'll have to see what I can find.
And thanks for the compliment!

Even though it would take some pretty extreme temps to break all the ties, skis aren't cheap. Not to mention the chance of sending them through someone's windshield. I got knocked out one time snowboarding so my friend drove us back in my bronco and forgot to close the racks. ( I don't really remember much of that afternoon) Somehow the boards never flew off, it was super lucky.

It's a Jeep, it's not supposed to work right all the time.

Get a piece of flat steel stock from Lowes Hardware/ HomeDepot etc put it in a vice and bend/beat into a "U" shape with squared off corners. Make sure it is the width to match your rack and drill a hole straight through eacch side and bolt in place.

If you can follow that Octoberfest induced post .

I have to make it really tight though, cus it just rests on the racks.

Nothing really, just want to see what it's worth. I don't really want to sell it, but you never know I guess.

I just got some rubber floor mats for winter. I bought the Mopar ones that are custom fit and love them, they fit great and are really heavy duty.
