Project Tyro - WK Build

Well, I decided I better make a build thread for my jeep, since I'm about to start on it. I named it Project Tyro, because tyro means novice and thats what I am. I am 16 years old and this is my second jeep (first was an XJ with 3" lift and 31s that basically rusted to its grave) but its the first one that i am building up myself.

So heres the info...

2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited
5.7L HEMI
60,000 miles
Green
Khaki Interior
Chrome Wheels
and pretty much all the bells and whistles except navigation and DVD players.

List of ideas to do to it as of now...

4" Superlift
Skid Plates
Winch
33" Tires
Sound System
Bike Racks
Cold Air Intake
Aftermarket Exhaust
Hi-Lift Jack
Custom Paint (get rid of the chrome)

During this whole project, Ill be open to ANY ideas you guys have...dont be bashful as i dont have much of a limited budget. Keep in mind, I have to keep this as my daily driver.

Heres what it looks like now...

Ive decided to go with the AEV pintler wheels in argent and 285/70R17 Goodyear MT/R's with Kevlar. Hopefully ill be able to get the chrome painted to match the wheels.

Also on order, is front, belly, and rear skid plates from 4xguard, rockrails, and a brush guard with a hitch receiver for the front. And the Superlift!

dude, since you done have a limited budget, do a solid front axle swap. Probably would be the first one to do it.

other than that, good luck with build, ill be checking it out. :cheers2:

Yeah, Ive thought about that...Im affraid to tho just because i dont know that much about vehicles yet. The IFS is still comfortable to drive when lifted and thats partially what im looking for. Maybe someday though when the car isnt as new.

BonesWK 04-05-2010 10:00 AM

yeah, I hear you.

4 Goodyear MT/R with kevlar tires
4" Superlift
EGR Module
front, belly, and rear skids for 4xguard
rockrails from 4xguard
matrix brush guard and front hitch reciever from 4xguard

Not that I don't like the front brush guard from 4xGuard, but why didn't you get a front winch bumper? Or are you not going to be using a winch?

jahlborn 04-06-2010 07:01 PM

Well my goal is to get a portable winch, hence the reason for the hitch reciever, then i can use it in the front and back and store it in the vehicle.

Another update...

Everything is in, except the rockrails. One of the boxes for the Superlift burst open in shipment, i have to call them and get more parts that im missing.

Everything is in the garage now and im tearing it apart...hopefully ill have some pictures soon
