This picture was posted on Pirate4x4's recap of the race. I swear I wasn't out at every obstacle washing and waxing the rig.... but man it looks clean :

He loved it! He is now shopping for an inexpensive Class A racer .
I was thinking a budget boosted TJ on 32"s, air bumps, and resi shocks and maybe an Aussie would kill in Class A.
BB: $100
32" Tires: $400 (used in good shape)
Reservoir Shocks: $650
Air bumps: $450
Aussie: $200
ZJ Tie Rod: $50
$1850 initial investment and then add control arms and extras later.

The rule is for "vehicle supporting" shocks, reservoir shocks aren't vehicle supporting. They would be partnered with either coils or leaf springs- which are what actually support the vehicle.
Vehicle supporting shocks would be coilovers, air shocks, or something like that. Several guys in Class A run reservoir shocks.

I would run 2'' bds springs and 32x11.50s mtr/k. Airbumps sound like a good idea. A set of 2'' bds springs shipped to charlotte 4wp was like 235 or so.

Hey Jay - quick question for you.
I've been seriously considering similar upgrades that you have already done - in particular the suspension seats are Rockhard bar. My questions is how much does the rear spreader bar from Rockhard (that you have your harness attached to) allow the rear seats to recline? I know I have a little bit of height on ya, so I need to make sure that I am able to recline enough for my seat in order to make it worth it. If it doesn't allow enough movement, I'll fab one up on my own. Just curious is all. I'm not only thinking of it for potential harnesses, but also for a camera mount. I found out already that the previous owner of my rig pushed the driver front seat back a little, so if it doesn't allow enough movement, I may as well fab one up on my own...

Hmmm Josh.... well, it's difficult to answer that. The Mastercraft seats can slide all the way back and still recline some, but I'm not sure if it would be enough for you. I'm 6'1" and have plenty of room, and sometimes I don't even recline the seat as far as it can.
I use the recline mechanism all of the time to get to tools and gear in the back, so it is well worth it to me. But with the harness bar, it is definitely limited.
Hope that is somewhat helpfull!

That is helpful, thanks. I wish you were a bit closer so I could see/sit in it in person so I could tell for sure. Based on what you're saying, I think I may have to bend a one-off piece. All up in the air right now though - I don't even have seats to worry about yet. Thanks!

As I've said before, it amazes me how clean your rig looks on the trails. I can honestly say I haven't seen your jeep covered in dirt or mud once
I was really impressed watching your videos. Amazing how quick you were able to move over those obsticles with the camera staying as smooth as it did. I would love to go watch one of these races in person.
