The track is fast, and is only technical for the first half mile. After that, it is flat out speed. Jumps, whoops, high banked turns, drifting through the woods, it will be a rpm busting day.
We pre-ran 3 laps today with each lap being roughly 3 miles. We were faster each lap, but the faster you go, as you could guess, the rougher it gets. I lost a bolt holding in the spare and sourced an extra one from Wal-Mart. Hopefully tomorrow I can get it to fit. Next problem, transfer case skid bolts are trying to unseat. Both on the driver's side were 3/4's of the way out. Last issue.....
4 wheel drive is trying to crap out on me. I have some loud grinding noises coming from either my front drive shaft or transfer case. Only getting it in 4WD. NO CLUE what it is. Drive shaft feels solid, but something is definitely not right. So as soon as I get through the technical stuff, I have to run 2WD through track.
Good news is, I'm still carrying 50+mph in the high speed sections on pre-run and should be even faster tomorrow.
Ok.... took some video from the GoPro camera, it is sick!!!!! It's still uploading, but it is crazy clear. Too bad once it is on Youtube it will be shrunk down. I have to be up in 6 hours to finish up the Jeep, so hopefully I can get my wife to give you guys a preview. It is awesome!!!
Oh, also I lost my winch hook on the 3rd lap. I helped a guy who ran into a ditch (pulled him out) and the winch hook must have.. I actually don't know. But it is gone.
Video is up! It may be youtube processing still, but it is live!!! This is a pre-run lap. I had to stop a couple of times (course work, guys stuck, etc) so there are a few cuts, but other than that, its a pretty cool first person view.
The first few minutes are pretty slow, but if you watch long enough, you see the high speed stuff and a few "jumps".
Off to driver's meeting, then its green flag time! My group starts at 11:30 CST.
How about this, if you had the Jeep Spirit, you wouldn't abuse the rest of us trying to enjoy a nice day out wheeling by bringing your brokeass broken down junkyard crap out to play where it can't handle it?
