Oh man that sucks that you are still fighting with this. I'm about to tear down my t case to install new front output bearing/seal, wide chain and 4 pinion planetary. Hope I don't run into some of this crap...

Just be sure to check the bearing race on the front output shaft. It should be identical to what you take out. Other than that you shouldn't have any issues.

In other news I dropped the case again tonight. I could have swapped the rear cases in the Jeep, but it only takes me 30 mines to drop the case now and and it is much easier on my back to do the work at the kitchen table

The seller of the cracked case said he was sending me another half case. When I get that I'll be set..........hopefully.

You mean the bearing width? Or depth would be more accurate. ...

Got the case back in and so far so good. The guy I bought the rear case from that was cracked sent me another one. Say a prayer.

I also got Wayne (Dookey) from pirate4x4 to cut me 5.3L decals.

Haha that decal looks good. I've been debating on doing something like that. I'm still waiting on a ricer to pull up next to me at a stoplight.

The only one I've actually raced is my buddy in his Bronco with a 5.8. I was on my brakes for a few seconds before he caught up. It was only up to 35-40 though

My brother just bought a new Ford F250 crew cab diesel. He put on the chip, exhaust EGR delete and a bunch of other bolts ones. He kept telling me how his was faster blah blah blah.

The thing moves don't get me wrong and it should for what he paid for it.

But I smoked his ***. He was less than pleased.

that's pretty funny.

Hey, its been a while since I've read through your thread, did you get your tach working? That's all I have left and I'm not sure how to go about it. I don't want to drop a lot on gauges but that may the only way. I don't want to mount a 2nd one on the dash or anything.

My stock tach works great. I covered it in this thread. In fact I have all stock gauges and they all work.

I basically followed this to adjust it. Only difference is that since I originally had a 6cyl I had the GM ECU programmed to output a 6cyl signal. So I didn't need a resister. Just had to adjust it.

I think the tcase is good. I have a put a few hundred miles on her with no leaks. So how do I celebrate getting back on the road after being down a month?

Tear the steering out of course.

The power steering pump has been weeping and moaning since I got the motor in so I tore it out. The steering gear is original and has a dead spot in the center so I went bye bye also, along with the hoses.

I picked up an ACDelco remained pump and a 99 Dodge Durango without a plow steering gear. It's a quicker box with a larger piston. And some new lines.

Bolted everything in and got her back on the road tonight. It was only down for another week. I was also able to get my steering centered. What a difference! The pump is quiet and leak free. The steering is centered and very responsive. I highly recommended the steering gear to anyone with a Wrangler.
