Spline engagement not quite right, from the output shaft to the tcase? No idea why you would only have this problem in neutral.

The only time it does not do it is when I am driving down the road.

If I rev it with the clutch pushed in it does it. If I put the trans in neutral with the clutch out, it does it.

It should be fine.

Remember it does the same thing with no trans even bolted up to the engine.

Motor mounts pissed off from being on and off over and over? Pipe your intake and exhaust outside the garage so it will be as quiet as possible, stick a piece of hose in your ear, and have your wife hold it steady at 1500 rpms while you have a listen

I hope that gets it pinpointed. It has a good chance of working, turning the engine noise down and the vibration up. If you had somebody else who knew what they were doing to help you could get a real long piece of fuel line, and have the other guy move it around all over the place.

Figured out my vibration today. Ended up being an out of balance flywheel.

I had the only mechanic I trust check it out for me. Took it to a local clutch shop this morning and had the flywheel and the pressure plate neutral balanced. Ended up costing me a $70 diag fee and a $35 balance charge.

Got it all back together this afternoon and all is well.

I'm going to call Novak in the morning. They advised me that this flywheel was neutral balanced and didn't need to be balanced.

Need to paint the skid and get the trans cover and boot installed and then she is done....... For now.

I wasn't saying I would sell it. I was reconsidering the swap. And I still stand by that. What I meant is that unless you have an engine issue than the swap isn't worth it. Until you need to replace the engine. Then it is a good swap.

I am stupid because I had a perectly, low mile drive train and ripped it out.
That was dumb.

I love the power and torque of the 5.3L. But I should have waited for the 4.0 to blow and spend the cash and upgarding other companents.

I went back and reread my post. I need to edit it. I was posting from my phone.

It should read I was reconsidering my decision to swap in the 5.3. It currently reads like I was considering sellig my rig. Which itsn't gonna happen.

I started with a 4 cylinder that had a chunk missing out of the block, oil pan and intake. Used for only 00-03 I am spending the same on the swap as I would have replacing that engine. 2.3 I think it was. Got the black TJ for 3200, sold 1100 in parts from it, and spent 800 on black hard top, so I'm 2900 in, plus the swap parts I took off your hands.

Yeah no sense in selling it anyway. Drive it till it runs like crap, sell 5.3 swap complete bolt on assembly, and buy a heavily modded 4.0 stroker.

No it runs good.

I had a good drive train and shouldn't have considered a swap until it was crap. Other than the normal swap headaches it is a good swap.

If I had it to do over again I would have waited till my 4.0 crapped the bed.

Your in a perfect place to swap.

Why J, you have to remember: Hindsight is 20/20.

All in all, this was an amazing build with a very informative and descriptive writeup from a detail oriented professional. Its rather typical that someon looks back and has mixed feelings about a project. You Sir, should have no qualms. You went theough alot of ***-pain, Identified issues and influenced serious changes with a major manufacturer and paved the way for alot of the rest of us to get off our a$$es and get started on something.

You want a real project? I'll trade you MY YJ!
