Project No Compromises - Update 01/04/11

Update 01/04/11

I received part of my UCF order in today and it looks absolutely awesome (and weighs a ton).

I do have a complaint though... why in the hell would you stick UPS's adhesive backed label holder directly to the skid plate?!?! Why not stick the skid plate in a thin box or wrap it in cellophane and stick the label holder to that so that I don't have to spend 30 minutes trying to figure out how to get the remaining plastic and adhesive off:

I tried slowly peeling it off, I tried paint thinner, and I tried using a razor blade. The paint thinner helped lubricate the razor blade while I managed to get the top plastic off. From that point, I found the magic weapon against the adhesive itself:

The bug and tar remover also did a great job on the rest of the skid plate for removing left over debris and oil.

From here, I was finally able to prime it and paint it:

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that when the engine skid comes tomorrow, there is not another label stuck directly to it.
