I wasn't going to do a post but I thought, what the heck, this would be a good way to catalog my first Jeep "build". In my younger days I had a brand new 1999 Cherokee, but as youngsters do , I traded it for the latest and greatest. The things I would do over if I knew then what I know now. So at age 40 I've matured (a little lol). Anyway, I bought a 2000 XJ with ~130,000 on it. Needs some work but I'm looking forward to making her a thing of beauty.Give me tips and advice, it will be appreciated!
I'll update this as the build goes along. A few pics of what she looks now and what I've done thus far:
I've welded new floor pans in and seam sealed them:
Replaced the tie rod ends:
Was blessed with receiving a "donation" of four nearly new Goodyear Wrangler RT/S tires:
I replaced the sway bar links as well as the old were shot as you can see here:
I've also replaced the rear gate lifts as they were shot. Put new plugs in. Replaced the driver's door catch arm. I sprayed rubberized undercoating in the interior to seal it from the elements until I decide exactly what finish I want to put inside. Getting a new belt for it this weekend. Shocks and leaf springs are desperately needed soon! Looking forward to feedback as I go, thanks!
