haha yeah buddy dad didnt want to take up room for the dog in the back of the truck so the gf was like "you can put it in my car" i didnt think it would fit but i forgot her seats folded down through the trunk. the brushgaurd is in my shed. there is a center piece that mounts like a bull bar and then the two headlight brushgaurd covers. i need to find all the bolts though i have all the mounts for the bumper to the jeep but not sure about the brushgaurd mounts.

and where the hellas were mounted there are two bolts on either side for the bull bar then two bolts on the bar for the brushgaurds.

so ive got a deal, xj D44, lincoln locked, 3.55 gears, $200.. what do you guys think? should i go for it? the plan is to run the 33s off the xj when i swap the stuff for a 5.5" lift over and eventually go to 35s. never did have an issue with the 8.25 but better safe than sorry.. is that a good price for an xj 44?

Don't do it, even though it's a decent price. Isn't your 8.25 already geared too? The D44 is an upgrade, but not a huge one compared to the 29spl 8.25's. Save the cash for a 9inch if you really feel the need to upgrade.

I agree... that's $200 you don't have to spend. If you're going to upgrade just run your 8.29 while you slowly build up a 9".

You beat me to it, CT. I agree. Many will argue that the 8.25 is as strong as the D44. If that was an HP44 for the front at @$200... I'd pay him sight unseen. I would recommend you just buy a Dana brand Limited Slip for the rear so you have the peace of mind of not busting axles on the trail since it is still a DD. I just put one in my 8.25 and was blown away with the performance. Sure, I will have to rebuild it in a few years, but the savings vs an full diff swap and the possible headache of busted axles, it's a no brainer for me. With my initial test drive with the rear gears and limited slip installed, I was able to climb almost all the hills in 2 wheel drive that I would have otherwise been in 4-low with my locked HP30 and open rear. I'm very satisfied with my setup. Plus I don't think I'll break a rear axle even if I tried.

If your going to run 33s, 4.10 would be a pretty good setup, find an 8.8 with 4.10s, weld it, and then find a a HP 30 with 4.10s out of a 4cyl cherokee.

right on dude i was about to pick up a 4.10 gear set with carrier and new limited slip for $30 for the zj when i was going to put an 8.8 in but that fell through. he might still have them. im not sure but who knows i might stick with 35s..all up in the air at this point i need to get up and work on it. my buddy just picked up an 01 xj and wants to put in a 6.5" lift so i might sell him my old packs and pick up some 3.5" packs and drop the jeep back down to 5"

well, shes getting parted i just cant justify all that money sitting and not being used. i might be picking up a 5.9 limited zj next week, swapping parts over from my current zj and selling the current one and then maybe getting into ATVs.

Same story with me, but instead of me going out and buying a quad, now all my friends want/have jeeps.

Beater xj on 33s > any quad.

No reason not to have a beater XJ AND an ATV. That's my plan when I get back from Iraq. I want to get the kids dirt bikes or ATV's. Then I will have to get one too, so I can go with them
