Can I put in a hydro assist box now and just not install the ram till I'm ready?

Yes. Just put plugs into the holes that are tapped in the box vice the line's fittings.

Did i bit of house cleaning today. Pulled out the stock fuel lines and mocked up a few coat hangars for my new lines. Going to stop by Hampton Rubber tomorrow and see how much a few lines will cost. I'm mostly only worried about the fittings. I'm not sure what sizes they are or what to use, so if they could at least tell me that then I would be a bit more inclined to build my own lines.

Mistake #1, dropped the tank. I think I'm probably going to replace it. Pretty rusted... Forgot my camera at home today so I took a picture with my POS phone.



Here's the pump and filter / regulator. The pump is a Walbro 255, and the filter / regulator is a stock piece from a 99 Corvette. It will regulate the fuel pressure to the needed 58 PSI, and return the rest back to the tank. The nasty POS underneath that is what was being used as a vent tube. That'll be fixed correctly soon.

Believe it or not.. that green tube is the factory vent line. My current CJ had the same thing.

On a separate note.. your battery is still at the shop. As are the shoulder harnesses for the belt system. I found them on the shelf yestarday.

Installed the clutch on Friday. I forgot to pick up the clutch fork from BESRK in Newport News, so the 200 pound transmisison along with the 50 pound transfer case have to come back out sometime soon to put that back in.

Gotta find some sort of bottom cover for the bell housing! The skid plate protects it decently well, but still way too exposed IMO. Maybe I'll just wait until I find a hydraulic slave bell housing, get it all done at once.

It also doesn't want to go into any gear, let alone move around while in neutral, so I'm expecting another tear down in the future. It was doing this before the clutch install as well. I'm guessing when we swapped the new main shaft in, we didn't put it back together just right. The shop I'm working on it in has a hydraulic press, so I might just try to re press all the gears onto the main shaft again... Hopefully that will fix it. If not, then I'm going to take it to a shop and hope they don't rape me too badly.

Got an alternator today. Going back to Browning's to find a starter probably tomorrow. I couldn't find one of the alternator bolts, so I went to the hardware store. Low and behold, they ran out of grade 8 bolts in this size and thread. Even tried 3 different stores. I picked up a grade 5 and a grade 2. The grade 5 stripped itself out right away after 3 turns... Put the grade 2 in and it snugged in nice and tight.






Also got my headers in from Advanced Adapters. AND THEY DON'T FIT!!! Called them and they said no problem on refunding and return. So that's good at least. Going to shop around for some stock type headers now I suppose.

Hmmm... you'd think the headers would be sure to clear their own engine mounts..

Any chance on grinding that mount to fit? What about changing the mount's position? You know that mount has a few different adjustments. The 2 big bolt holes can be changed as well as the 3 different holes that are in the frame mount. Might be able to move the mounting bolts around a bit then grind the mount so the header will drop down enough to get the bolts in.

Seems like they'd make the header sweep back a little more.. like my Edelbrock shorty AMC headers.

Very nice looking build, I'm quite jealous. Where were guys like you when I lived in Newport News... I couldn't even find a ride to the Vehicle Processing Center to pick up my Jeep let alone someone help me build up a CJ.

Thanks. When did you live in NN? There's tons of 4x4 groups up there.

Got the dog spayed, no more toys for a payday or two.



I picked up a fuel cell from Summit. Still need to figure out where I want to mount the pump / regulator. Once I do that I'll get some fuel lines made.
