Just posting this for future reference, I don't plan on doing this soon. Just making sure I don't forget

Stealing ideas from J.P. here. I want to eventually incorporate my fuel cell back into the factory spot....ish. I want to basically do the same thing J.P. did here and here is the finished product, except I want to raise mine about 2 inches so that it will be flush with the bottom of my frame. I am prepared to raise the floor in the back seat area by a few inches to accommodate this, if needed. Here is a sketch I edited to get my idea across:

Red is where I would like to notch the cell

Green is where the factory filler tube / air vent will connect

Brown is the output to the pump / regulator

Blue is the return from the regulator

I'm not sure if I want to actually notch out the Brown part for the "sump" if you will, or if I should follow what J.P. did and use a fuel pickup system inside the tank. If I notch out the corner for a "sump", that would be perfect for connecting it to my current system.

This mod will be much sooner than the fuel cell, I would like to trim my rear fenders a bit when I stretch the axle, a cut similar to this looks great, I think. I definitely don't want a comp cut, and I would like to keep a bit more of the rear panel than this shows.

Found it here: http://www.4wdandsportutility.com/fe.../photo_16.html

I've been known to set off a few car alarms

Still without gauges and rear driveshaft, so It only goes down the street to the gas station about once a month. I've been trying to decide what to spend money on next, completely redoing the dash, or swapping / stretching the rear axle. I know the dash is more important (for engine health) and cheaper, but I reeeeeally want to stretch the rear!

Well I've spent the past few weeks trying to connect my starter to the key on the column, instead of the lever switch under the hood. I have been using a ton of resources from John Strenk, mostly through this thread

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f8/bu...nector-901819/

And I can confirm that A-14 is the starter wire, A-12 is the battery wire, and A-13 is the engine control (run) wire.

Turns out that my wiring has a voltage drop somewhere along the lines, and I'm only getting 6 volts on the starter when I turn the key. So for now I'm going to stick with lever switch, until I can figure out either what is causing the drop, or if I want to completely bypass the factory wiring just to get it working.

Not sure I'm ready to spend $600 on one of these...

That might be a good investment Andy. Bad wiring can cause a fire and what if it starts when you're gone. Could be terrible if it's parked inside the garage. My biggest concern with that much cash outlay is does it work and is the quality there.

Good point Jim. I think I will give it a go re-wiring some of it myself first. If I can't get it to dance, I'll probably spend the cash.

In other news, I just put this bad boy on order

Looks nice Andy and well made. Are the rectangular holes below the gauges for switches? And what's going right over the sterring wheel? This ought to help you get that wiring tied up.

I'm with Jim. Looks great but am also curious on what is above the column.

What are you going to run with those 9 switches?

Above the column, for now it is just a blank piece of steel, and later once I decide what all I want to put there, it will be an idiot light cluster. Turn signals, parking break, check engine, stuff like that. I haven't decided if I want to just go with blank LEDs there, or something different. At the moment, I'm leaning towards some etched indicators. Like a left arrow and a right arrow for the turn signals, an engine for the CEL, maybe a skull and cross bones for the parking brake.

Those holes are cut for the ARB style switches. 9 of those, and 1 of these on the far left. Copying Mike with his radiator fan idea here

http://www.waytekwire.com/item/44255...-SEALED-METAL/

Also, the holes under each switch will house a push button style circuit breaker

http://www.waytekwire.com/products/1...pe=Panel-Mount

So for all of the switches, I think it will be
Radiator Fan - 3 position
Air compressor
Rear Locker
Front Locker
Rock Lights
Rear Lights
Forward Lights
Interior Lights
Extra 1
Extra 2

Not sure what I'll put in the Extras yet, but I figure it's not a bad idea to have options for expansion

You like wiring, don't you.

I like the switches. That fold down feature is a great idea on the dash too.

Ha, they didn't call me sparky for nothin in the Navy! Ha. I've been trying to get the old wiring to work for awhile now, tinkering with it here and there. Replaced a few wires to get the thing cranking with the key, and it still has a lot of bugs. I think the engine harness I got is not wired correctly for my tub. Honestly I'm getting closer and closer to buying that painless harness. I called them and they confirmed it does replace the factory bulkhead connector, which I think is a big part of my problems.
