Project: Bring it Back From The Dead
Hey guys new to jeepforum but I have been around this site for years.
Finally got my first jeep. Got a GC off my g/f's parents for cheap with a blown engine. Body and rest of the jeep is in decent shape (I did a lot of work for them on it) including new tires, shocks, brakes, TC, Plugs, Wires, Exhaust, Battery. Couldn't pass the deal up so I bought it for $600 and trailered it home this saturday, got right to work ripping the front end apart in preperation for the engine swap. So far got the head lights and corners, header panel, bumper and other things off. Also cleaned up the inside, it was amazingly dirty. Pics in a few min.

Well first thing I Actually bought was new pins and bushings for the front doors, they're shot. Doors drop about and inch or so when you open them. Should get them on this weekend hopefully.
The jeep is about an hour and a half away from school (wyotech) so the only chance I have to work on it is if I go home to work for the weekend. Hoping to get the radiator out and other misc. things like air box and stuff.

Errr it doesn't run haha, notice the gaping hole in the block. As a general rule that = dead engine. But yeh, the 4.0s IMO are the only thing Chrysler has ever made from scratch that is truly amazing.

well it finally happened this weekend. Engine is out.
Pics of it before and after, and another shot of the hole in the block.
Also, the exhaust manifold was cracked so it looks like ill need one of those, and also the starter came off in 3 pieces so one of those too
And last 2 pics: while im at school got a chance to paint the front bumper from faded white back to factory color. Turned out good I think
Also ordered my new engine on sat morning.
Hit the u-pull-it, but couldnt find tow hooks or the header panel I need

Looks good, what did you use to paint it? I'm curious how well it holds up.

Just used some adhesion promoter and duplicolor bumper coating. It matches the stock color perfectly.
I wanna see how it holds up as well. I used it once before and it never flaked off so well see how this works.
