poor man's TJ

HI! this is my first jeep, and i really do believe its the best money i've ever spent. I've had more fun driving, wheeling, and wrenching on this than i ever thought possible. This will be probably the slowest build thread ever, because im just a poor CO from Utah but i'll update it as i do things to my baby. (if anyone cares that is lol) (and if can figure out how to upload pics...hope this works...) i found this site by accident, and now its what gets me through work most nights.... anyway, i bought my baby in feb. of '10. she's a 97 se, with 104,000, and i gave 4500. she was basically bone stock, except for the sony stereo, infinity speakers and sony subs, tube bumpers, and a 2" tera BB, and K&N filter. the tires that were on here were some very unevenly worn 31x1050x15 BFG AT's, which i replaced for almost free with a set of cooper discoverer at's. heres what she looked like.

The other small things i've done so far include new seat covers, new grab handles ( for 12 bucks btw !!)midland cb and antenna, tune up including plugs, wires, cap, rotor, new stock air filter, ( got rid of that K&N POS), oil change, and throttle body cleaned. I rebuilt the front driveshaft thanks to a pretty intense case of the "angry sparrows". thanks to www.stu-offroad.com for all the info and writeups that helped a non-mechanically inclined person such as myself get these things done. she ran much much better after the tune-up. next thing i did was found a matching set of 5 black "D" steelies with 4" backspacing, four caps, and 5 33x12.50x15 wildcat EXT's mounted on em, for 150 bucks. i decided to snag em and put em on, knowing i'd need a bit more lift which works for me. here's how she looked after the wheels, bigger meats, and taking the stock steps off.

i think its a pretty dramatic change myself. love the new stance. Next on the list is a 1.25"BL/1"MML. probably from Rough country due to price. then the list - not necessarily in this order:
1. Zone 3" lift ( thanks to Boogieman for convincing me)
2. Bumpers, including tire carrier for the back so i can run my full-size spare
3. Some rocker guards
4. Currie steering
5. Durango S.box swap
6. Dana 44's or 8.8's with 4.56's
7. SYE/CV shaft
8. Control arms and TT
9. Rear seat sub-box mod? this one makes me nervous a little!
also getting a new top in july. thanks looking, and please comment! and - please dont let my wife see this list! she'll kill me! lol!

Thanks man! i'm stoked. I found them on a local classifieds site. actually thats where i found the rims and tires as well - AND its also where i'm trying to sell my stock TJ steps and a brand new black Tonneau cover for my TJ that came with it when i bought it and since i have my daughter i will never use it! Know anyone thats interested in either one?

I don't want to burst your bubble but from what people on here say locking the Dana 35 isn't the best option unless you are trussing it with a super 35 kit. The shafts are prone to break but hey some people run them for a while with no problem so I hope your one of the lucky ones.

i wasn't planning on locking the 35. did i say that?? i'll re-read but if i typed that it was wrong. i know enough not to lock a 35. i'll lock up the 44 when i get it though!
