Tough enough for a man, built for a woman
Lifted rigs aren’t just for guys and Extreme Off-road and Performances’ recent Jeep JK build proves that. Dressing a purpose-built JK with pink accents was set in motion at last year’s SEMA Show when Austin O’Krinsky had his Extreme Off-road Performance crew noticed several pink themed off-road vehicles and decided they wanted to create the “ultimate girl Jeep with an extreme touch.”
Since his wife always hinted at a custom ride of her own, Austin had the personal motivation he needed to create the princess of all Jeeps. Nicknamed “Jewel” by his wife for its “awesome” jewel-encrusted crown that was thoughtfully placed on the subwoofer enclosure to not only catch the eye, but cement its status as one of off-road’s royalty builds. “An what girl doesn’t love eye-catching bling’d out things?” Austin adds. Although this build could have been easily being the most “accessorize-able” off-road vehicle on the market and since girls love to accessorize, it was a perfect match!
The girly Jeep went through a couple of renderings since O’Krinsky wanted the perfect feminine yet rugged touches on it, with the finished JK an exact replica of the chosen rendering. Since there were no surprises on the design, he was able to find all the exact products he wanted to use without facing any challenges.
A combination of colorful accents with enhanced off-road capabilities, O’Krinsky started with a BDS 6.5 Long Arm lift kit, powder coated it pink, with Fox shocks. Fuel Off-Road 22” Maverick wheels were custom painted pink, then wrapped with Fuel Off-Road 37X13.50X22 Open Country M/T tires. Custom 6-piston front and rear Baer brakes, with pink calipers, and pink powder coated G2 front and rear differential covers completed the undercarriage.
An aFe Power cold air intake, Magnaflow exhaust, and a power programmer were the extent of the power adders Austin employed. The same couldn’t be said for the Wrangler’s exterior, however, as Extreme Off Road Performance color matched Fab Fours front and rear bumpers, tire carrier and Bushwacker flat style fenders to the body. AMP Research Power Steps, Master Hooks, and pink custom painted Rigid Industries LED lights and light bars finished the external appearance in style.
Inside, a hydrodipped pink zebra pattern was applied by Extreme Hydro Graphics of Katy, Texas, to selected interior trim pieces. Roadwire custom seat covers with pink accents and a Kicker custom audio system this Extreme ‘Jewel’ a precious gem, be it in the rough, or in a more refined setting.
When it made its grand debut at the 2014 DUB Show Tour Dallas, TX stop, the Jewel won first place and broke necks with all the ladies admiring its color scheme and all the guys checking out the parts. “We never imagined that we would get so much attention with a pink Jeep. But that just went to show us that when anything is done right, it’ll attract a rue off-road enthusiast no matter its color.”
Now the off-roading Jewel will travel to the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, NV where it will be showcased and possibly be put up for sale. “Whatever we decide to do with it, one this is for sure, it’ll be hard to top this if we ever decide to do another girly themed build again!”
