Pepe 2.0 The TJ

Well after being away from 4 wheeling for 20 years (yes I am an old guy) I bought a 95 stock YJ Rio Grade (called Pepe) about 7 years ago to keep at my cabin for a summer fun second car. After fooling around on fire roads it was time for a little build up, and we all know one thing leads to another to another to another.

It ended up running 33's lockers F&R and a re-gear to 4:88's I finally got tired of the lack of power on the mountain highways.

So last Jan I found this 05 Rubicon, and it started all over with Pepe 2.0

The nice part

After reading tons of posts I found the TJ I wanted to copy the most. This is one of the nicest TJ I have ever seen.

One of the first things was to loose the stock bumpers

The install was very simple and Now a place to hook up everything w/o cutting the dash for switches

Got my new Bestop front bumper installed, and playing around with light locations, also moved my Warn M8000 from my YJ over. I was not liking the control box so I am going to relocate it.

Relocated the winch control to under the hood, but I had to relocate the cruse control first. I moved it to the open spot below the master cylinder.

Had to make a bracket to hold the controller

Also I wanted the wires from the front lights to be hidden so I drilled holes in the tube and ran the wires down and out at the base of the tube.

Added this for security

I had a problem with the piece that covers the bolt making it hard to remove, I had to drill a new hole in the metal to get it to work properly.

It now works great, other than a bit small, I think the ones that fit the non-flip seats have a bit more room in them.

Relocated the winch control, had to make a bracket from a wood framing bracket. Just a bend here and there and some new longer cables. I first went to a battery shop to have them made, and they guy told it would be cheaper to buy 6' long cables. Then cut them down to size and add new ends myself so that's what I did no big deal

Painted new Riddler covers for F & R Diff's, now a lot of people say they have rubbing issues, but I have not had any.

Next was the OBA System. I robed it from my YJ. I had to order a new bracket from Kilby to mount the York, you have to remove the belt tensioner when installing the new bracket along with the Alt. The Alt gets inverted and mounted to the bottom of the new bracket and also a new serp. belt.

Ran a hose to a filter just in front of the air intake on the main box and made a sheet metal bracket to hold it in place.

And installed a quick disco one in the front and one in the rear. The one to the left is the air the one on the right is the new winch remote connection

Mounting the air tank
