That's a big reason I want to do this one, may be fun to take on the trek courses, play in the dunes, and even the occasional trip up to the Silver Lake Dunes. I'd like to do General Grabbers on this one, but they are crap for DD use, probably gonna go with the BFG A/T.

Ok so here's the outline for the build for right now:

Currie 4" coils
Start out with a bastard leaf spring pack using my MJ leafs and shackles(beacuse its free). Eventually I'll either do OME 2.5" leafs with the AAL and boomerang shackles, also thinking about something like going spring under with longer leafs(more spring for wheel travel while still keeping relatively low)
HP30/8.8 trussed at both ends(still debating gears/diffs)
Bilstein 5160s or better for shocks
Hannemann fiberglass fenders/quarters(hand-me-downs from the MJ project)
33" BFG All-Terrains on some sort of simple aluminum wheels
May do something to the hood, maybe fiberglass cowl hood with vents? Mostly aesthetic, some function.

Mostly aesthetic, some function...... That about sums this one up. This one will mostly be a mall pre-runner, since we don't have much dessert to play in here in Indiana. I'm going to put a nice paint job on this one, something that I don't intend to get scratched up with tree limbs and rocks, wax it and take it to the show and shine at the jamboree. Don't get me wrong, it's not going to be all show, I've got some trick plans for it(like going spring under), including a Jaz Jeepspeed fuel cell(I like that it has a 32 gallon capacity for almost $300 cheaper than the Genright tank), and possibly pulling the rear side glass and sheeting it in like some of the Jeepspeed guys are doing.

Just an idea:

Something for the hood

Something for the bumper

Honestly I love the look of the super wide covered front and the tires sticking out in the rear uncovered. Looks really mean.

I hope you do a 4wd prerun. Those are rare

Also, I think you should look into the 4.5" deaver jeepspeed leaf packs. Those are awesome. Currie sells them

Yes it will stay 4wd, if it started as a 2wd that would be a different story, but it would be to much work to convert. I already have the fiberglass that I bought for the MJ, my original plans for it are back on the table since Notch Customs started making the flares that Iceland Offroad used to.

I've seen the Deavers they are highly recommended as being top notch, but they won't work for me. I've decided to do something that has been outlawed in Jeepspeed: going spring under in the rear. There are a few reasons for this. 1) axle wrap is eliminated 2)I will be running a longer leaf spring otherwise I would need an XJ leaf for about 9" of lift 3)spring under allows for more up travel, ground clearance suffers a little though 4)the longer spring allows for more travel with a smoother ride. What I will probably have to do is have a custom pack made, Deaver or National are both capable of doing so. I'm also looking into the possibility of 4" SUA lift springs for an MJ from Hellcreek, but I doubt that the center pin would be in the right place for me to do so.

Finally wrapping up the power cable upgrades, got them installed this weekend just as the crappy weather was rolling in:

Been using BWD heat shrink tubing, I love this stuff, beefy and it's got the glue liner, when it's heated up the glue melts and seals everything up nice and tight, all weather proof and stuff.

I'll wait to do the ground wire at the back of the head till I do my top end swap, last will be upgrading the alternator with a 136 amp or 150 amp if I can find one.

Work, they retail for $6.79 a tube and I've been cutting them in half, they are pricey but the weatherproof seal that it makes is worth it to me.

Any O'Reilly should be able to get them in a couple days, I have a DC on the other side of town so I had them in a couple hours. If you stop by any one during the day M-F, you will most likely get the best guys they have. Just out of curiosity I called a couple other parts stores that carry BWD, apparently we are the only ones that can get them.
