Installed the seals today. Looking at these pictures makes me want to grab the spray paint and a flapdisk

Ran a compression test with a gauge that actually works. Came up with 1 @ 143, 2 @ 110, 3 @ 135, and 4 @ 150. Time to start looking for a replacement engine....

185k and the previous owner never took care of it. It does burn oil, but not enough to notice a loss when checking the dipstick. Oil pressure on the stock gauge shows 20-40 at idle depending on temp., maybe bad valves instead of pistons or rings?

Also good news, even though the compression was low in cylinder 2, I replaced a vacuum line that runs from the valve cover to the manifold and it starts up on the first try everytime and runs smoother now. Even feels as if I have a little more power on the highway. It's getting there, just slowly..

I'm in a pickle and I need some help making a decision. I'm looking at replacing my soft 8's with a set of aluminum wheels I have sitting around. The wheels are super light, which would be good for the 4 banger. Both have 4" backspacing. The soft 8's are 15x8 and the alum. are 15x7

Soft 8's

Alum.

That sounds like poor decision making. Soft 8s for the win

Soft 8's suck and everyone has them. Buff the finish on the Al and make it less shiny. AL for the win
