just want to put my build here. any mods or changes you guys think would look good or something i've done needs to be changed please let me know. i'm here for ideas and knowledge.
its a weekend jeep. wanted one since i could drive. just picked this up in december. my wife is understanding and said i could spend our refund check on upgrades. i dont need a hugh lift my buddys mostly have
stock jeeps they wheel in. i live in the dallas area so a super lifted jeep is a waste unless i drive two hours.
Not really a noob anymore, i think i know every inch of this thing now. i go in bursts with the upgrades. so bear with me. I think im done with the externel stuff for now. I need new axles and i want to build a new 4.0 from scratch. Can i get 300hp from a 4.0 if its built right? and no blowers or turbos or anything.
i'm thinking **** cepeck 33inch crushers w/ micky thompson classic 15x10 wheels and a budget boost. which won't affect the warrenty maybe a 1 inch body lift
Some guys are going to knock you for the smittybilt stuff. It's "ok" stuff. I had their front/rear bumpers on my TJ and they were just that......"ok". Tire carrier rattled and the latch sucked but for the price it's hard to complain.
I think if I were going to stay in that price range I'd go this route:
I think thier quality is better than smitty but it keeps you in that same price range.
I'd skip the winch unless you realy feel like you need one. You won't need to do brakes if you aren't going any higher than 33's. But then again if it were mine I'd say screw the warranty. Chances are you won't need it anyway. And my guess is if a lift would void it....tires 4" larger than stock would void it also. If it were mine I'd lift it and keep the stock stuff. If you blow a tranny or motor have it towed home....jerk the lift off then....send it to the shop.
its been raining so i removed the plastic jugs on the bumper and installed my2 inch coil over lift. i ordered some 33/12.5/15 definity dakota a/t tires from pep boys, and eagle 15x10 wheels in polished aluminum, not quite the M/T's but cheaper and have the same look. the crusher tires will have to wait they are just not in my budget at the moment. i also bought a spice colored super top. i'd like to put that on. photos when the sun comes up.
removed the window covers. removed the RV towing setup. installed some extended flares i got off of craigslist.
worked and polished to remove the pin strip. stuff didn't want to come off in the cold.
took the top off for some photos no doors either had to see what it looked like I'm going to put my soft top on tonight. probably going to sell the hard top for extra money.
picked up rims and tires. put those on. didn't buy a spare. i want to burn thru these so i can get the crushers. if they look all right i may pick up a matching spare. please tell me what you think.
I have no problem with criticism.
sorry about the pics my uncle lives next door and is freaked out about pictures of his house on the internet.
Looks good so far. I'd put end caps on the bumper, remove the steps and turn the white letters in on the tires. But that's just me.... Did you get the wheels at pep boys too? I like them. I looked at those tires the other day myself, nice to see them mounted.
yes. pep boys for the wheels and tires. cheapest i could find them. i didn't think about the white letters, glad you said something i will swap them around. already ordered after market bumpers so just having the plastic gone is good for now
I'm pretty sure thats a 35 because of the fill plug.
The people at Pirate4x4 are not very nice if you don't know what you're doing so I would stay away from there and just read without posting. You've done a lot already
jeep hardcore tech will do nothign but yell at you make you not want to come back, it is full of a$$holes, a$$holes with a whole $h!T ton of knowledge though
insatalled rugged ridge front and rear bumper with tire carrier. installed my new spice supertop. put on my sticker. took off the side steps. is it just me or does it look like the tire carrier leans back?
i think its looking good, build it how you want it to look, I have two jeeps both that are wheelers and daily drivers i have found that the least amount of lift the better even if you have to trim the body hi hood it or whatever the stability is priceless i have one jeep with 5.5 inches of lift and i can stuff 39.5s under it and wheel it all day so set it up as you wish and i would definately check out pirate4x4.com its a 4wheelers bible ... my 0.2c
I finished with my body lift on saturday. and had to put on my bikini top. built a mount for my high lift from fencing parts. 80 dollars from quadratec 2 dollars from lowes. painted my fender flares with texture black from rusoleum. looks great. and sanded and repainted spots on the frame that had rust thatshowed real bad from the BL.
