Rubicon Rocker Guard install

Last night I installed some Rubicon rocker guards that I picked up for super cheap, $40.00. They still had the gaskets glued to them and weren't badly damaged, just a little scratched up, so I went for it. I sanded them down and cleaned them up with acetone and then primered them with 2 coats of black primer and then did about 4 coats of duplicolor bed armor. While they were drying I picked up a threaded rivet gun (nutserts, rivnuts) from Harbor Freight for like $13.00 complete with rivets. I then ran to Lowes and bought 1/4-20x1 stainless steel button top bolts for the exposed rocker and 10-24x3/4 grade 8s for the underside. The button tops along with their washers I sanded then painted with semigloss black. I left the bolts and washers for underside alone for obvious reasons. I proceeded with removing the flare extension and holding the rocker guards up with C-visegrips. I marked where to drill the holes then used a scribe to set the holes. I drilled the appropriate sized hole to match up with the rivets, used touch up paint to cover the exposed metal and coated the out side of each rivet with caulcking before setting them with the rivet gun. Then put some locktight on the bolts and put the guards on. I started to run out of good daylight and was taking pictures with my crappy camera phone so I will post pictures of the finished product tomorrow. All in all an easy diy once you get past drilling into your perfectly good rocker panel.

Rokmen Mercenary Front Bumper

I will post my review of this bumper in the product reviews as well, but let me say this: The quality and craftsmanship of this American made product can only be matched by the caring and courteous personality of those who made it. I received great treatment from Jeff and the guys at Rokmen from the start, I received my bumper less than a week after ordering and when it arrived I was blown away by the detail and standard in which the bumper was created.
As for the install I held off on the pics, taking off and putting on a bumper is a pretty simple DIY. The bumper comes raw as you can see so I cleaned it with 91% isopropyl alcohol and sanded it down then cleaned it with alcohol again, primed with self etching primer, sand, clean, primed with regular primer x2, sand, clean, then Duplicolor Bed Armor like all my other black trim. I'll post the finished product tomorrow as I haven't had time enough to take some pics in good daylight. I am very pleased.

Jeeps coming along nicely I see your semi local to me, maybe I'll see you on the trails someday. I love my Rokmen bumper as well. They are my favorite 4x4 company to deal with.

CB Antenna

I did my CB and antenna this weekend, forgot to take a picture of the cb location, will get to that this week, but here is the antenna. Also the jeep was sitting a little low up front, I'm guessing the new bumper weighted it down a little so I leveled it out with some spacers for now... I got the antenna mount from Quadratec, its very sturdy, high quality. Also I chose the drivers side tail light because there is a hole inside the tub where the wires come through a rubber grommet near the aft roll bar, so wiring was real clean.

Thanks, your build is pretty inspiring! I will probably follow your lead on more than a few things!
