Nicks 02 TJ SE
1 Attachment(s)
Alright, I bought this squirrel around march and since then it has had a bumpy ride. I t was stolen within the first week of owning it and recovered with minimal damages after 3 days missing. I'm just glad to have it back. well i've done some minor things just to get it looking presentable and running clean. I like the 2.5l and feel that it has great potential for what I hope to use it for. as of right now i am a broke college student military veteran so it doubles as my dd but hopefully not for long.

so i'm new to this forum thing and still getting the hang of it, hopefully i'll be able to figure out the most efficient way of doing things on here soon. so i started out with the basics. changed all fluids and did the plugs wires and cap and rotor. i also swapped out most of the vacuum and evap lines and hoses, they were lookin pretty old and cracked and would've thrown a code sooner or later. and cleaned er up

next i had to take care of the cracked headlight, so i replaced them both with hellas. while i was at it i decided to paint my ugly chrome headlight bezels to match the body. once i removed them i sanded them doen with 400 then 800. wiped them down real good with a duplicolor prep pad. i then applied 1 generous coat of duplicolor adhesion promoter and afterwards painted with mopar color matched paint from the dealership, about 3-4 coats then toped it off with a few coats of dulpicolor clearcoat. i picked up this idea from zakman here on jf.

next i pulled off the bumper ends and replaced with the flat mopar bumper end caps and threw on the mopar tubular grille guard. I know its nothing more than a brush guard but it livens the jeep up a little until im ready for a winch

4.0L throttle body on a 2.5L
1 Attachment(s)
just to clarify i was jokin in my last post, and i know the badge is a little crooked but what they hey... on a realistic note, i had read a dyno that showed significant gains in hp by simply swapping the pinhole TB from the 2.5L with the TB from a 4.0L. so i drove down to the closest yards and stumbled across this little guy practicly screaming at me. so i took it home for no more than a few turns of a 10mm socket and 20 bucks + 1.99 for the gasket at autozone. swapped out all the components on my 2.5L throttle body and strapped them to the 4.0 throttle baody and bolted the litle guy on. wow. a much bigger difference than i expected. keep in my my 2.5L is bone stock. but it is quicker off the line and the improvement on the freeway is noticable. i reccomend this to anyone with a 2.5L. took maybe 15 minutes and was super cheap. sorry i forgot to take picks of the swapping process but its a super easy diy.

Painting factory fender flares
8 Attachment(s)
the next project i under took was my tired grey with white polka dot fender flares. this project is fun, easy and rewarding. if you like the size of your stock flares painting them will save you money. the front flares are easy to remove but there is a bit of a trick to the rears. the rear wheel well has a plastic covering that is held in place with some christmas tree push pins. these can be left on for this. in the pictures below i show that you simply just pull out the edge of these covering and fold them down to grab the plastic nut behind the bolt. also i found it easier to remove the bolts by first breaking the torque on them and then just holding your wratchet in place and unscrewing the plastic backings by hand. it went faster for me that way. once i had the flares off i sanded them down with some 200 and 300 grit sand paper. cleaned really well with duplicolor prep pad then sprayed a coat of duplicolor adhesion promoter. while that was drying i washed all the crap out of the wheel wells and off the body from inbetween where the flares meet the body. next i painted the flares with duplicolor bed armor. for this to look right the coats have to be light or it will turn out gloppy and shiny. the first coat will look like nothing more than tiny speckles and as you add more light coats it takes its texture. once finished and dry i threw them back on. this took only one saturday and made a world of difference, cost me maybe 30-40 bucks...if that.

Looks good so far. Getting her all cleaned up. I did the same thing when I first got mine. It was exactly like yours except it had a black top. Want to see a possibility of your future jeep???? And about 10k of your money???

scored a jackpot off craigslist. an original OEM soft top off of a 97 Sahara. the top had never been taken off the vehicle which only had 20,000 miles on it and the vehicle had been sitting in the guys garage for the past 12 years. the jeep was going to his nephew under the condition from the kids mom that it had a hard top...?? well its like brand new, a little loose but that can be fixed.

Moab Wheels
1 Attachment(s)
Got a set of 5 Moab wheels almost in take off condition for a deal I could not pass on. Sometimes I love CL. 4 of them have brand new Falken 30.75in street tires on them, so I'll run them for a little while since the Jeep IMO isn't ready to wheel yet then swap them out when the time is right.

Roll Bar Covers
2 Attachment(s)
This isn't a very significant modification but I figured I'd post it for those wondering about aftermarket roll bar covers. My wife got me some Bestop Sport Bar covers for me for my birthday and they are very nice and are of good quality. My once black OEM covers were looking sort of purple grey and needed to go. They are the same vinyl-like material as the soft tops and they matched my OEM spice soft top perfectly.
Things I did differently: the contents of the package includes some adhesive Velcro strips that are supposed to go on the sides of the driver and passenger seatbelt bezel on the roll bars. there is an opening in the bar covers also lined with Velcro so that you can put them on with out removing the seatbelts and just Velcro them to the seatbelt bezels. however I knew I would not like this look and I completely removed my seat belts, applied the adhesive Velcro on either side on the bolt holes in the roll bars, put on the covers, attached the Velcro to each other, and then reattached my seatbelts for a cleaner look.
The one thing I did not like was that you have to cut your own slits for the bracket arms to poke out of for the bow assemblies. oh well, I got over it.

Corral Canyon/ Lake Morena
1 Attachment(s)
Took a drive out to Corral Canyon today with the wife to see what it was all about. Puttz around and checked out Lake Morena as well. Didn't go on anything too extreme just kinda cruised, street tires and low clearance and all...... had fun though and got off the pavement for a little while.

Fire extiguisher and flashlight mounts
2 Attachment(s)
Haven't been doing much to the jeep lately cause I'm piecing together/saving for my lift and suspension component upgrades and I'm going to do it all at once to save a little bit on rework. However I did do some minor upgrades over this long weekend because I was dying to work on it. I installed some new safety features.

The time now is 04:28 PM.
