The Next JEEP Build Thread

Calling this one "Project Cream Puff" for the exceptionally pristine condition that I found it - Not!

I want as close to OEM as possible. This isn't going to be wheeled, just cruising around town, to car shows, throwing candy to kids at parades, etc. I'll probably make a couple of exceptions for safety, like better brakes for example, but from the outside I pretty much want it to look stock.

This vintage photo is my blueprint, minus the hard top:

I'm looking forward to watching the progress here. There is one of these '63 Willys about a mile from my house thats for sale. Its about in the same condition, but I'm hoping someone will buy it and fix it up. If anyone reading this thread is interested in that one, let me know, I will take some pics of it for you and get a phone number from the seller(I don't know him/her).

Had some really nice weather over the Labor Day weekend, so spent some time in the driveway working on the frame and wheels. There was a little more pitting on the frame than I was hoping for, so ended up spraying a couple coats of surfacer and sanding it all down. Ended up with the first coat of black on the frame by the end of the day, but too dark to get a pic.

That beverage holder was a factory option in '63.

Here's a frame pic, first coat not quite finished, still needs some tweaking here and there:
