Newbee :), 8.8 axle swap TJ

I'm new to this jeep thing and bought my first jeep a couple months ago and starting to build. My first thing to buy was a axle out of a 1997 Eddie Bauer, with 4 wheel drive. My question is about the axle. I was hoping it was a 4.10 and I'm sure it is but could use some help. AXLE code reads.,4L10 88 7B10, S615CR, I think this thing has LS because there are wires running into the pumpkin. Any thoughts?

YUP! Got a good one! 4L10 = 4.10 gear ratio; the L in between stands for Limited Slip

Thanks, I thought I got a good one. Just hope the gears look ok when I crack the pumpkin. Thinking about putting a Auburn E-Locker in but heard the LS works great. I saved money not having to re-gear it. What should I do?

I paid $200 for the axle, was wondering if that was a good price? 1997 Ford explorer, Eddie Bauer 4x4 with 174K, any thoughts?

$200 sounds fair. I found one in a junkyard near me and they wanted $300 plus my old axle or $350 without it. Too rich for my blood! If it were me, I'd run the limited slip for awhile and see how you like it. No point droppin $850 on a locker if you find that the limited slip gets you everywhere you wanna go. Just my 2 cents though.
