new jeep owner
Hello all, just wanted to introduce myself. For the past couple of years I have been wanting to get into a jeep and finally an opportunity came up so I pulled the trigger. Got myself an 03 tj wrangler. Not sure what mods should be first, any suggestions? Only have one (phone) picture as of now, will try to take more this weekend. Thanks guys

What u do to it is very much based on what you intend on doing with it. Serious wheeling? Lift, gears, locker and maybe tires would be first. Casual cruiser? Sound system, maybe gears to get mpg back, bikini top. Nice jeep either way!

not really intending to be wheeling (that may change in the future) i would like a lift and maybe a new set of rims and tires for the most part. i want like a 4" lift, and since im new to the jeep environment, what would you guys recommend?

Hey Man,
Nice Jeep.. If you're not into wheeling just yet, there’s really no need for a 4” lift. Once you get into the 3” + range, there are a few more extras to go along with the lift. Plus, what kind of gearing do you have, 3.07 or 3.73’s? I have an X and have 3.07’s. If you have 3.07's then anything more then a 31” tire and you will notice a loss of power and MPG’s.. Something to consider if you have a big commute, especially since gas prices are creaping back up. If you’re just into cruising around town and are looking for a little boost in appearance, then I’d consider a 2” budget boost or spacer lift to keep your stock ride and throw on a set of 31” BF All-Terrains (which looks like you already have). Check out the Rubicon Express 2” Economy kit.. Something you can do yourself in a few hours. If you wanna go really cheap and use your stock shocks then check out TeraFlex’s 2” budget boost. All they are, are coil spacers that fit on top of your springs like hockey pucks. These are just a few suggestions, but there are tons. Either way, have fun

Rough Country 2.5" Kit is a nice one with great reviews so far. You could put 33's on it if you really wanted to if thats your goal.

Yeah, 4 inches would be too much just for a boost in appearance. just go with a 2 inch lift i would honestly recommend a 2 inch shock and spring lift over spacers better for your suspension and this brand rides great im getting one of these kits myself.

wow thanks guys, sounds like a 2" lift is in my near future. I have one noob question, if i zip off all 3 back windows, can i ride like that without worrying about top being "flemsy" or even worst coming off on the road? sorry for the noob question.
