I was just quoted $660 WITH the super joints on the Yukons... that's pretty appealing. I do need to be a little more honest with myself though. I've been running the snot out of these stock D30 shafts for years, with the original U joints with absolutely not one issue. So Nate is coming back down to reality.......... good. I think some standard chromos, with the better than stock 760 U joint will be just the ticket.

The RCV's are nice, but I think you're being realistic based on your wheeling style. I'll be interested to know what ujoint you decide on to replace the 760 joints.

This had been my biggest struggle in the past few months. Being able to recognize that I am getting ridiculously carried away for my purposes.

Thats a slippery slope , too strong and you break the ears off the shafts . My thoughts are that a stockish u joint will become the fuse .

What would you get ? I went the same route and settled on sleeves . I am curious as to what the rest of us would do .

Are you advocating that we be reasonable in our builds ? That is ludicrous!

No sir- not one bit!

Example:

yeah... I have no good example about what I meant. I always end up overspending. The only real good example I have is that I went with the 760s not the Yukons.

When I referenced the 760 joint I meant THAT is the upgrade to the standard OEM Joint...

Yup I think we ALL do that, some more than others, and some aren't able to get over the fact that they don't actually need the biggest and baddest. I'm glad I slowed down a bit and didn't just order those RCV's. I might even take my wife out to dinner now with all that saved money......... nah!

So.......

Haha... and... got my pretty new ball joints pressed in.

I bought them from Dave's Offroad Supply on Pirate. I bought my Racelines through him and he was great to work with and the cheapest. I hit him up for a quote this morning... he replied, price was good. I paid him, he set up a pick up at Yukon... and bam. Now I gotta assemble them. I'm two timken Unit bearings away from being able to put this thing back together. So off to Rock Auto website I go.

I actually might. Rock Auto's gonna take about a full week to get me those unit bearings. Since I haven't noticed ANY issues with the ones I have now, I think I'll just run them and save the unit bearing swap for another day. They are easy enough to swap.

Ok gotta get to work.... how to do you put in a U joint again????
